Not running like it did before the lights came on or is it not running right after people have been under the hood. There are a couple of vacuum lines that could have come off and or been nocked off by critters, that would trip dash lights. Still not buying into "they ate your wire's". Both the wire and convoluting wrap are made with toxins in them so that they are not chewed on or ate up by critter's. I would call the dealer and ask them too please show you what has been eaten or chewed. I would have to see it! I would really like a picture of the damage.
Its not running right after the lights came on.. It runs fine at start up and idle. Its just when you go on the highway or try to stomp on the gas, under a load, that it it has a slight hesitation like the engine timing is not advancing fast enough. I did take it to another shop and they pulled the codes and said the N02 sensor threw a code and there is a problem with the CAN system, which I was told, it the communication system. But I know someone who knows a guy who is pretty high up at another stealership in SJ and he is going to make the call for me. I am hopeful to get it in there by next week.

I have been jerked around by everyone that I have dealt with. I even have the extended coverage and those people were the worst to deal with. They tell me to have the stealership call them to see if its covered. They told me that they are a call center and can't make out going calls(WTF??). SO I then call the Stealership ad try to get them to call the Toyota finance (who the extended coverage is through) and they wont call them unless the car is there!!!! WHAT!!!!??? I feel completely left in the dust by all of these people.
they sure made all of the xtra coverage worth when I got the truck. Now they will find any excuse not to cover. I will tell you this, I will NEVER EVER buy a new car, truck what ever. At least the old stuff does not have any of this computer crap to make everything light up when the stupid gas cap was not tightened enough ( I did try that to)... I own three Toyota's! I feel like a loyal customer who is just being pooped on......

Re: Dash Lights On

With a vacuum leak it it would show a code for the 02. That in-turn would make higher than idle speeds off. Really to far for me to make a road trip. Tomorrow I will be finishing the reinstalling of the final Aux. rear fuel tank and wiring on my FJ. I will lift the hood and see what is what on my vehicle that could be vacuum hose and or wire trouble problems. What is wrong can not be that much, from your posting your truck is still running. With all that is involved with this vehicle too start and run, it is set up to shut it's self off so that it does not hurt it's self. If you think about the money, the dealership only gets it with hard parts replacement! They do not make much off of just putting the vacuum line back on. All the testers tell then that! They need to sell you on the rest.

Re: Dash Lights On

Yeah I thought that it was the o2 sensor but its the NO2 sensor. The second place told me that the N02 is different from the O2 sensor. Of course I am not real sure what the NO2 really does but I think it is also in the o2 sensor system??? But you are right it does start and run everyday. I am hopeful to park it until I can get it over the other dealership (this is shop # 3 for those of you keeping score at home) and they will find something.... Good news the old 40 is now up and running...

Re: Dash Lights On

OK Final report on this CRAP!! Well it was all true !! A rodent or something got up into my engine and chewed the N02 sensore wire off and did soem other damage. My insurance company is paying for the repair; like $3800.00. I still have to pay me deductable but she will be fixed and ready for pickup on Saturday.. It really sucks that this thing happened cuz I am not real sure how to keep them out of there to do it again. I heard somewhere that if you put a drier sheet in the engine campartment, like zip tie it around a hose, and the smell will keep them away. Other than that I will have to come up with big old cat to live around where I park my FJ!!!! I guesst that the good news is that the stupid dealership was not lying.. OK so now that I am going ot get it back I need to go do some wheeling!!! what is going on in MAY????

Re: Dash Lights On

I just had the lights come on this morning also. The scan gauge showed: P0456. I haven't been able to find out what this code means yet; but it seems to have something to do with the fuel system. Anyway, I checked the cap. It was not closed completely. I tightened it. The lights and code were still showing at startup. I cleared the code with the scangauge and everything is back to normal.
