I would rather go to Lake Isabella but I've never been and don't know enough about the area to organize something. From the responses, it looks like this would be a big turnout so it'd be best to have some one who knows the area. Pismo seems like an easy solution. Does anyone know of any trails inland from Piso?
the following is part of the SnT agenda which includes the Inland trails:
Quote:
Sunday Morning - Inland Trails - Relax on the beach Sunday morning before heading inland to the Pozo Saloon Finale. Along the way checkout the Garcia Ridge and Las Chicas trails before gathering at the historic Pozo Saloon. You're on your own to form groups, these are not guided trail rides.
Sunday Afternoon - Pozo Saloon Finale - Everyone will converge in Pozo at the historic Pozo Saloon between 1:00 and 5:00 PM to review our weekend and say goodbye. The Pozo Saloon staff will provide a special BBQ for our group to ensure everyone gets served quickly.
Didn't BZwires do this solo last year?

I think SPERTIERRA is going on the Mojave Road run on April 4-6.
Well he was the one to push Isabella in the first place, so I say somebody take this mess over! take charge! As I said in the other thread about this "CA Summit" (I think there are THREE threads), if you guys go to Hungry Valley, I can finally have an excuse to view the massive poppy fields of Antelope Valley!
The difference between a "mob" and a "herd" is that a herd has a leader. So VOODOOBREW sounds like the leader.
Can you move the NorCal SoCal M/G back a week? It doesn't seem as if there has been a lot of planning. If you move it back a week, I'll help VOODOOBREW and POKERDAWG or whoever wants to do the planning. If not, I'll read the thread.
History has shown that you (VOODOOBREW/POKERDAWG, or whoever is in charge) need to:
(1) Pick a spot. A one month lead-time is essential if there's going to be an over-nighter because you must
(1.1) make sure that there are enough places for people to camp or
(1.2) that you have contacted a hotel/motel/no-tell to see how many rooms they have available and obtain pricing.
(2) Manage Trail Runs. Nobody wants to go to a meet and greet JUST to BS. Again, experience has shown that after the BS, people like to go play. If you have 50 rigs show up to a Nor/So Cal Meet & Greet, you need to be able to manage the trail end of things (routes/timing/after-party)
(3) Trail Swag. Everybody including me loves it. The SoCal runs often include I-was-there stickers, the upcoming Mojave Road run includes a t-shirt paid for by our sponsor DIRTY PARTS, two custom CD's to listen to while on the trail, fragrances for men and women by Vera Wang and Kenneth Cole, etc. If you can rope the Toyota Trail Teams into coming, they bring trail swag with them. Has anyone contacted the TTT's??? Maybe the Reserve TTT's member MUDDYGRRL could help you all with that, but you're going to need a tentative head count.
(4) Managing a successful event is a lot of work, but when it clicks, they are GREAT and memorable.

Re: Norcal and Socal M & G April 4-6
Uphill has guessed right... I have a leader personality. Some people call it bossy. In fact, I was told by a former colleague that I just wanted to have a kid so I could boss it around.
So here's my dilemma: we've got landscaping starting in a week, and we are supposed to fly to Germany in April to find a house/ school. Somewhere in there I *want* to do some skiing! So I am probably not the best leader right now.
If it were a week LATER in April, I could probably swing going. A week earlier would be tough. It's already March 10th! So, how does mid April look? I vote uphill as Commander in Chief, spertierra 2nd in command, me as flaky 3rd.
Now if I could just postpone this move to Europe by say, an entire year....
p.s. Steve, only ONE poppy has been spotted thus far at the opium reserve, so there's still time...

A week earlier might work for me, I check.
