plastic piece over tow package

Is anyone else having probelms keeping that factory Plastic Piece right above the hitch reciever on their vehicle. It seems everytime I take this thing off raod it always finds away to fall off. Maybe I'm just to hard on the truck or maybe I need to invest in some steel bumpers.

Sounds like you might have broken some of the fasteners?

Re: plastic piece over tow package

It's held on with four 10mm bolts plus a few snap clips. You should take a closer look at it and see what the issue is!
You can buy the clips at a dealer.

I actually work at a local Jeep Dealer and I have been replacing after everytime I go off road. I've even tried a little JB weld to keep the fastners in place but I rip them right off every time.

Well, then, I'd just leave it off. It apparently has an aversion to your bumper!

Re: plastic piece over tow package

You're talking about the silver piece above the hitch? Man, you must wheel the $hit out of that rig to keep ripping that piece off!! How do you hit that thing with the hitch in place?? Seems that the hitch would take the brunt of anything. Do you have the oem hitch that actually mounts to the bumper or an aftermarket that mounts to the frame? And does the silver piece above the hitch have the cut out or not? How 'bout some pictures...

Ill post some videos, yeah its the stock tow package. I beat the crap out of it, in Vacaville we have a local trail on 7 acres and its rough. I seem to usually lose it in the 4 ft mud pit. And it is the silver piece right aboce the hitch reciever. But yeah I do take it through some rough stuff with no problems.
