Re: Treknwil's Stolen 4Runner comes home.

I would be so pissed about the condition it was in, but at least you got it back.
Hopefully you can bring it back to its former glory.
Good luck.

Re: Treknwil's Stolen 4Runner comes home.

Glad you got it back, hopefully you were fully insured, not just liability? I have an 87' just like yours that is stock with 223K miles, it's going back on the road soon as I saved it for my kid who just turned 16. I was thinking just going with liability only, but maybe I'll reconsider going full coverage after seeing yours. I hope someday you can get revenge on the a-hole that did that to your 4runner. People that steal from others don't deserve to be alive.

I've heard of a lot of Toyota's being stolen up in your area also...be wise go full coverage and save yourself a lot of heartache. Mine didnt have full coverage so I have to eat the whole thing.
BTW be careful, these thieves know how to get into these rigs and start them, there was NO damage to the locks or ignition and no hot wiring. We did however find the package from a blank Toyota key in our rig when we got it back.

Re: Treknwil's Stolen 4Runner comes home.

Portland indeed has a big problem with auto thefts. With no punishment for personal property crimes, meth heads are free to steal with impunity, and they know it. We need to start handing out tags for them, like deer or elk, with no bag limits. I'd quit my job and go full time poaching for meth heads, seriously.

I hate tweekers. old Toys are easy to rip off. Get a battery kill key like they run on older dune buggies.

Re: Treknwil's Stolen 4Runner comes home.

Glad you got it back, but the condition sucks! It would be nice to catch the thief and cut his hands & b#lls off! Man I feel for you. Good luck in getting the 4Runner back in shape.

Re: Treknwil's Stolen 4Runner comes home.

Shaved key probably the culprit. I KNOW not everyone likes them and YES I know everything can be defeated, but invest in a club or similar product. It will not stop a professional, but it will probably make a tweaker or someone looking for a joyride think twice.

That's my LEO rant for the month.
