Rollover @ Frank Raines OHV

Very sad...It's a reminder for people to be safe on the trails.

Re: Rollover @ Frank Raines OHV

That's too bad

If the crash is on the area that I think it is, there is always a wrecked vehicle there. Someone needs to post a triple black diamond on it, one rookie mistake in a rut and you are going to roll a long way.

I do truly feel sad for their family, but did anyone notice in the article, they were on the hill side, making a u-turn?

The are very few facts in the article about the accident -- it's mostly an obituary. The article just says they were turning around, but not exactly where or how the tip over occured.

FWIW, I went up to the top of "truck hill" at Frank Raines in my Jeep last year. It was a lot of "fun" going straight up, but scary as hell coming straight back down. Caught a tire in one of the deep ruts coming down and thought I was going to tip over. So, I stopped. Apparently there really wasn't really much risk of tipping over, but, fortunately, Bzwire was there to arrest my concerns and guide me back down.

There are obviously risks to off-roading and it's not a sport for the faint of heart. The death of these fine people should give us all pause and remind us that our most valuable "safety gear" is located between our ears. When in doubt, just stop to assess the situation and develop a plan of action, before it gets FUBAR'd.

Dude, that place is just plain EVIL! There is very little room for error in most places on the steeps, to bad it doesn't snow there it would be cool to ski down some of the slopes

Wow. A lot of people are saying a lot of really nice things about these folks.

Please let the record show that if I die off-roading, know I went happy.

Still very sad, though.
