check out the new Super Swamper M16s . It's a new tire and they have sizes that fit FJs (depending on your wheels). My next tire will be the M16 or a Swamper SSR radial.

Me likey....

We'll see if that happens to my shoe'sthat I just got. But on the trails
the goodyear mtr's did really good.

Re: tires.... Anyone

Those look like an update to the thornbirds. Those had terrible tread, way too hard. I'll be interested to see how these perform.

Re: tires.... Anyone

Hey Woooody,

Yeh, I've heard bad things about Thornbirds in the mud and although I've never used them but looking at the tread of this new tire, to me it looks like a milder version of the bogger:

I'm a fan off the Swamper SX or SSR for a maximum traction tire but these new M16s look like they would be good all around. I guess we shall see

Re: tires.... Anyone

I have been pretty happy with my hankooks...not as much dry traction as my previos ATs but a hell of lot stronger....but keep in mind that any tire can break...its just a matter force :-P.

Re: tires.... Anyone

I'm in the market too. I was just about to buy 5 stock tires on Craig's list with 1000 miles for $250 total. Then I did a partial Rubicon run with DaveF2 this past week end and no way will I go back to stock.
So do you think this M16-07R will work? I wonder what kind of mileage it would get.

Re: tires.... Anyone

I'm taking the FJ40 to all the Rubicon trips and although currently I'm sporting 35" mud BFGs, I'll be going to 37" Swamper TSL radials (as soon as I get the cash together ). As for the FJ Cruiser I'm going with the M16 when they come out in 33-34"s. I wish they didn't put those silly bullets on the side . As far as I'm concerned, Swamper makes the best offroad tires!

As far as mileage, they're heavy so I'm sure mileage will be affected (1-2 mpg) my guess...

Re: tires.... Anyone

I just got a set of BFG KM2s 285/70-17 for my FJ. I love the tires. They look mean and they are not loud on the highway. They are suppose to get 40,000 miles, that is what BFG said. I plan on rotating them with every oil change.
