Well, it looks like I "might" be able to make this trip afterall.
I just got "admitted" to the DVIII trek to Saline Valley being led by Nevadaesh and should be down the road in Big Pine on 9/22. If so, I could take a few days to check out the Racetrack via Hunter Mt. (Wells #44) in DV from 9/22-9/24 on my own and be in Lee Vining to join the group on 9/25.
I'll give it some thought and let you know what I decide.
This post is mainly to introduce myself, Antoine Zuber, I plan to join you guys for that ride.
Cedric Massa told me about it and ask if I would go with him. Well just a quick note about me, I'm from Geneva in Switzerland, 29, and I'll be in SF area for vacation.
Any input on what I'd need to bring as furnitures, and more, even if I'm sure Cedric is already well furnished, but I could get the stuff with him before heading up the trail.
Sure we'll have great time.

welcome antoine! looking forward to meeting you on the trail run.
as for equipment, i would recommend a good sleeping bag, foam/air pad and appropriate clothing. the high sierra tends to be cooler during the day and even colder at night that time a year. last year, it dipped down to about -2C (28F) overnight. i believe Cedric has everything else (tent, chairs, etc.).
i will send you an email later in case you have further questions.
i will be posting the trail run schedule and other information in the next week or so. stay tuned!
You can add me to the roster, Steve.
I'm planning to join you guys there in my FJ after my trip in DV to Saline Valley & the Racetrack. As before, I don't plan to camp, but will probably be staying at the El Mono Motel & Cafe in Lee Vining just down the road from the gas station at the junction of 395/120.
BTW, are the trail runs starting the morning of Thurs 9/25 or the morning of Friday 9/26? Makes a difference on my travel planning from DV and reservations in Lee Vining.
Let me know. Thanks!

I was looking over last years High Sierra/Mono run, and it looks like mostly 'easy' trails and one 'medium'. How did that work out? Looks like we've got a good sized group, think we'll have easier and harder trails each day?
Is Thursday still a meet up night, with no runs? That works well for us as we can work a half day before leaving. We're rationing out our last vacation days of the year. Thanks - Ann

hey Ann! most of the trails are easy and long, but very scenic. there will be one if not two trails that are moderate. there are some long shelf roads that are narrow and Laurel Lakes has a couple switchbacks that are tight. other than that, there are a lot of trails and spurs that you can play on.
in terms of the breakdown of runs, it's looking like Thursday will be establishing base camp and relaxing followed by Friday trail runs further south (still deciding if we'll be heading as far south as Bishop), Saturday at Bodie and Mono Lake/Craters and Sunday catching Old Coulterville Road and Trumbull Peak for views of Yosemite Valley on the way out. i'll post up the tentative trail run schedule soon.

Heck, if you're going as far south as Bishop on Friday, I could just meet you there that day, after I finish exploring Mazourka Canyon on my way north to Mono Lake from Independence the day before.
