Re: NorCal OT: Rottweiler needs home! Good dog, sad story

I volunteer at the Marin Humane Society (MHS) and am a volunteer dog walker there.

They have an excellent facility and bend over backwards to place every dog in their care -- sometimes keeping them for months and placing them in their foster care program to better socialize dogs for adoption. They also take dogs from other facilities that are overwhelmed with animals, so that they don't have to be euthanized.

So, if you can't find the Rott a good home and can't get her into rescue, I'd recommend surrendering her to MHS in Novato for the best chance at adoption.

Good luck!

Re: NorCal OT: Rottweiler needs home! Good dog, sad story

Thanks...

It's such a shame, all we keep hearing is that the shelters are very full do the effects of our plunging economy. People are surrendering their pets in record numbers. What a horrible thing to have to do.

We've got a couple of leads, but looking for more. Hopefully something will pan out and we can get her straight into her forever home.

Wish us luck - A

Re: NorCal OT: Rottweiler needs home! Good dog, sad story

Hi Anne,
I used to volunteer for Nor-Cal Beagle Rescue. The woman in charge of the group also was involved in rescuing Rots. I'm not sure if she was part of the two groups you already tried, and I am not sure if she is even still doing it. Contacting her might be worth a try. Her name is Linea MacPhearson and she is in Freemont. Here's her e-mail address. You're welcome to tell her that you got her e-mail from me.

rescuelm@attbi.com

Good luck,
Benjamin Reece

Re: NorCal OT: Rottweiler needs home! Good dog, sad story

Well, she didn't do very well with WRanger's friend's family. Seems she was to aggressive with his small child. Brandon's friend already got a pup, so we're on to options 3 and 4 now (Ray's and Benjamin's).

Rotti's are just really that way... bred to be aggressive guard dogs. They need someone who can handle them. They typically bond to a family, but she's been passed around so much, this may be harder to do.

Thanks so much for all of the help and good wishes. We'll find her a home, yet!
