maybe your saying that the dealer told them to "load it up", but again this isn't a huge surprise. Especially if he didn't have a buyer already lined up.
If PPO stands for Post Production Options and all of these options are being added at the Port, what is an example of an accessory? mats are a port installed accessory?
Maybe they are.... When I bought my Honda, I had to wait a few days to pick it up while they installed a roof rack and tow hitch. If that is the case, I have a problem with it. $179 mats means I go elsewhere. Not because of $179, but because that'll mean I'll be looking at MSRP on the vehicle and every accessory they can come up with. I'm not paying $74 to have the port "install" 5 mats. Same principle applies to the $50 to have the port install an armrest, etc. I'll buy the "limited production so pay MSRP" argument, but MSRP for mandatory accessories treated like options will rub me the wrong way and will be a deal breaker for me. I don't see any difference between that and the fabric protection scam. Sorry, that's just me. Nothing personal.
[quote=Toyotaman]What do you mean "it just occured to me.." He didn't hide it at all!
What? I wrote "it just occured to me" because it had just occured to me... I did not write anything about the post being sneaky or sly... obviously it occured to me only because I had not noticed it was posted by a salesperson initially... so while reading the posts and such I thought it was posted by someone purchasing the vehicle... relax man... it's all good...
I'm with Slab. If I have to buy a lot more stuff than what I want to get an FJC before May then it aint happening, even if I can afford it. I'm not going to pay $550 for TRD exhuast. I'm not going to pay for running boards, then sell them and buy rock rails. If Gulf States or my dealer won't unbolt the running boards and bolt on some rock rails for me, no deal. The TRD exhaust is a little harder to remove, heck they'd have to actually put it up on the lift. But I'm not paying for it either. Oh and no cosmetic skid plate either. Might pay for a GPS though.

Whoaaa, Just Wanted You Guy's To Get A Handle On The Pricing! What Will Happen In March When The Fj Lands? Customers Are Ordering With Options. The Trd Performance Exhaust Is Popular Because It Adds Horsepower, Was Developed By Toyota Racing Division For The Vehicle And Will Not Void Your Warranty! I Put A Trd Performance Exhaust On A Xrs Matrix And There Was A Considerable Difference Well Worth The $600. If You Get Some Options Port Installed The Labor Is Free. Watch Out For The Dealer Installed Options Being More Than Port Installed When Buying. The Armrest Is Nice Going Down The Highway, Offroad I'd Move It. The Mats Are Expensive, But At Least There All Weather Instead Of The Carpeted Mats Most Dealers Are Getting For A Rubber Floor.
I don't think they're pickin' on ya Jon... just shocked that it was at $32K. Yeah there were things none of us want on that truck so our actual FJ's should be cheaper than that. Shocking to see the numbers that large, that's all.

Thanks for the explanation, but does your dealership plan to bring in all FJ's like this? Also, has TRD or anyone for that matter done a dyno test with the TRD exhaust? In most cases the exhaust does not ad considerable HP that merits the extra cash unless you have a free flowing air intake box... Is a TRD air filter or the like included in the TRD exhaust package? It seems more like a cosmetic upgrade than a performance upgrade.

Is your dealership willing to remove these for the buyer? Is there room for negotiation on desired accessories or is MSRP the best you can do?
I've been driving a 22RE for a long time, I don't need a few extra ponies for a 1GR-FE. Your sales pitch might work on the uninformed but the TRD exhaust isn't going to change my world. I agree that if somebody ordered it then sure, charge them $550 for it, otherwise don't expect Pancho to pay for it just because you think he's jonesin for an FJ and won't walk. You also know that the next guy in line behind Pancho might pay for it so why should you take it off when you have an easy sale with it on. That's going to be a major sucking point if it happens.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN IT LANDS AND THE SALES MANAGER REALIZES MOST DEALERS ARE GOING TO AVERAGE AROUND 50 FJ'S FOR THE FIRST YEAR? THIS IS AN EXCELLENT TOPIC. WHAT ABOUT THE DEALERS WHO ALREADY HAVE TAKEN 40 ORDERS AND HAVE A SIX MONTH WAIT. I WOULD THINK OPTIONS MAY BE THE LEAST OF MANY WORRIES. I KNOW NO ONE WANTS TO HEAR THIS, BUT IT'S REALITY.
Reality is that half of us will buy a 4runner or a taco if we can't get what we want out of the FJ. And... if our dealers who have allowed us to preference what we want stick a bunch of crap we don't want on our trucks - we're liable to walk to a different manufacturer entirely. By the way, nice caps lock.
