PA people - Rausch Creek?

Any of you Pennsylvanians go to Rausch Creek? I've been on their forums and am looking to head out there some weekend.

Re: PA people - Rausch Creek?

Thanks. I knew Paragon was closing, but that's a little bit of a haul from here. RC is only about 60 miles north of us. I'd be interested in hearing from people who have been to RC...I don't know if many FJs have tackled those trails. And since I'm still stock I need to know if it's worth it taking a run up that way.

Rausch can be done on most trails with any rig. The key to Rausch is that there are bypasses on each trail so that harder trails can be taken by easier vehicles.

Like it was stated above- Paragon will be closed after this weekend- you should really try to drive the few extra miles to get there because you won't have another chance and there are Fj's coming to show support.

Rausch is nothing like Paragon- like going to the local mini mart vs. wegmans.
Trust me you won't be sorry and there is a huge raffle on Sat for everyone that goes.
Raush is tiny and can be covered in 1 day- all of it- you can't do that at paragon unless you are in a helicopter.

Re: PA people - Rausch Creek?

Believe me, I would LOVE to get to Paragon, but wheeling's not an option for me at least for a few more weeks. A pretty severe back injury is limiting my in-car time to an hour or less, with no off-road stuff until after my next round of cortisone shots. I thought I'd ask around about RC in the meantime so I have some info ready when the doc gives the okay.

Re: PA people - Rausch Creek?

Went to Paragon this weekend and wheeled with Fred, aka, Man in a Bottle. Had a blast. Damage, You're right, Paragon is HUUUGE. Took us close to 4 hours to do turtle. Anyway, Wouldn't mind doing RC. I believe Bandi has been there and the whole reason for him getting the FJ was because Paragon and RC was close by. But like I said, wouldn't mind giving RC a shot. Wheelin is Wheelin and Wheelin is fun!!!! I'm up for it Chicks when your docs says go!

Re: PA people - Rausch Creek?

I've been to Rausch Creek about 3 times now, (2 times with my old wrangler and once with the FJ last summer). I've been to Paragon 2 (wrangler) and Paragon is much bigger, but the people with fat wallets (aka, tax payer dollars) are turning it into an aiport. I think that RC has it's benefits. I'll be planning on going first thing in June (I'm saving money for a wedding in May) When I went to the RC website and logged into the forums, I asked if anyone wanted to go with me and I had like 3 people instantly volunteer (one backed out and I went with a Ram Charger and a TJ) It was a good time, and I've got nothing bad to say about thier trails. And regardless what may have been said, Green is for Stock FJ's, Blue is for experienced Stock FJ's and lightly modded, and Black and Red are for custom rigs or heavily modded FJ's with experienced drivers, that being said, there's a trail for just about everyone. Maybe not as many as Paragon, but it's a good place to get your feet wet.

P.S. The whole situation with Paragon get's me angry, let's not get on that side tangent.

Edit, pics.. for you.

Re: PA people - Rausch Creek?

Hey Silvertoy...You know where I live...up in the "valley". I'd do RC with you this summer but is this a day trip or should I plan on spending the night somewhere? When I went to PAP this past weekend, I woke up way too early to get there by 8am... Not sure if I wanna do that again. is there camping there? I think I need to check out their site and see what they offer.
