Sheesh, that's early. I would have to leave at 7:00am to get there in time. I'll check with the wifey.

I may be in. Looking at my schedule. I don't mind waking up at 5am to get there, just promised a friend I would help them out. Maybe they will be cool if I reschedule.
I hope I can make it!

Superwinch in my living room awaiting the Expedition One bumper to mount it on...makes a good end table
I am thinking about this run as I really like GWNF.

From the DC area take I66 West past Front Royal.
Take I81 South to Harrisonburg.
There are several exits in Harrisonburg.
Take Rt 33 East exit.
Go about 200-400 yrds East on RT 33, the Wafflehouse is on the right.
About 130 miles (2-2.5 hours) from DC.

Some folks have asked about whether you need a lift and agressive tires. My immediate answer is "No." However, the trails will prolly be tougher due to snow melting and creating mud and slush holes.
That said, I have a winch and plenty of recovery gear.
I figure if we use our heads we should be able to manage the trails fine in stock FJC's.
I am in. I'll be bringing my daughter, which means that we will have to eat (as opposed to just getting a cup of coffee) at the Waffle House. Is 9:30 the time that folks are arriving and then eating, or are folks plannning to arrive in time to eat and leave by 9:30?
Also, does anyone have a count of rigs?

With you it will be 3 rigs. I plan on eating there and leaving by 10 a.m. at the latest. It is quick service and you should be COo.oOL
See you there,
Vaughn

Have you seen this post before? I have never been there, so I was just trying to find information. I am in though. Will be at the Waffle house between 0930 and 0945...coming from Norfolk. Will have to stop for gas...Toyota couldn't have given us say a 25 gallon tank could they have.
From TTORA and copied into a post here..."Second Mountain used to accessable from 33, but overuse and people tearing up Second Mountain Rd, has led to a gate being installed at the top by the folks who live on Second Mountain Rd. It's private property from 33 to the yellowgate, but GWNF property on the other side. You can reach the other side by go to the top of Dictum Ridge and then making a right by the ATV offloading ramps. You can travel down to the backside of the gates, but will have to turn around, (unless it's hunting season down there, when the gates may be open). The powerline trails are off of the trail and you can get a nice little ticket by the Rangers who travel around up there especially during hunting season."

I have eaten at that Waffle House many times. We have a timeshare condo up the road at Massenutten. Yes it is fast, but it is small and sometimes I have had to wait to be seated. That is why I asked about the count of rigs.
I'll see you Saturday.
