I was out of the country last week and got back Thursday night. On Friday I saw a Black Cherry at Woburn Toyota heading home from work on Rt 128. So I figured I'd stop in Ira Toyota once I got to Danvers. Sure enough they had a Sun Fusion and a Black FJ on the lot. Both were sold and could not be test driven. But the black one was open so I got inside and checked it out. I'm SOLD!!! All the complaints were overblown. The interior is phenom for a 30k SUV. The seats are great and room in the rear is fine. I'm 6' and I was comfortable - a hell of a lot moreso than the bajillion sedan rear seats I've sat in. In person, they are too tough looking.
Then karma kicked in earlier today. I went shopping with my 11 y.o. daughter, and heading down Rt. 1 in Topsfield there she was, a Sun Fusion sitting all alone at the Ira Toyota storage lot. This is where extra cars are stored and prepped for delivery. We pulled in and left my Dakota idling while we checked it out. (This is not the sales lot and not open to the public.) My daughter loved it. "Dad, this is soooo cooooool!" My initial infatuation with the FJ from auto shows was well rewarded. Went back to Ira Toyota sales lot and poked around for the salesman I've been trading calls with. He said the Sun Fusion at the storage lot hadn't been prepped yet but I could test drive it tomorrow. So I'm crossing my fingers. It's a loaded manual transmission - not my original choice but having driven a manual SUV before that's not a deal breaker whatsoever.
And I'm definitely sticking with Sun Fusion all the way. It stands out like ... well ... like the Sun on a warm Spring day. I barely picked out the Black Cherry in the Woburn Toyota lot while driving by. But the Sun Fusion was easy to spot in passing.
All that's left is a test drive and barring anything wacky weird we'll move onto the paperwork. Of course I have been dealing from the outset with Woburn Toyota and they promised me a loaded Sun Fusion AT was on order for me and arriving at the end of April. So if I get to paperwork with Ira Toyota that'll give me some leverage with Woburn Toyota. Both dealerships are quoting sticker, no premium. Don't think that'll happen for a couple months, once a few are on the road for all to see.
Wish me luck. April 2nd, 2006 could be the big day. My birthday is the 15th so early present for me ... woohoo :-)
stealth...i just spent the last 2 days blasting around the cape in my new sun mt and you will love it...especially the stick...i call it the sport tank!!!

Good for you! I took a AT Sun Fusion for a test ride, and it was tight. It felt great - granted I have been driving tacoma 4x4's for the past 11 years, so the 'truck ride' is not new to me.
I saw a black one this morning - first black one I have seen in person. We were in traffic, so no close ups or interior. The black looks sweet. I am torn between black and silver, although silver is edging out.
The Sun Fusion really stands out and is sharp. Nice paint Toyota! Either with a AT or MT, I think you'll be very happy.
Looks like the Mass area is gonna have quite a few owners
Bad news....dealerdude called me today to say the Sun Fusion MT was sold. I was out MTB'ing between 2 and 4pm and got two vmails one saying come on down for a test drive and another saying sorry it's sold. So I told him to call when he gets a test driver in. Still on the Woburn Toyota list for an AT end of April. But I kinda had my head around the idea of getting back into a MT. At this point I guess I'll take either, but I'm firm on color. The Sun Fusion is my choice with the Black Cherry second but it's not close.
Gonna call Woburn to see what MTs are coming. Damn I'm getting anxious. Headed to Tuckerman's Ravine the last Saturday in April and I wanted my FJ for that trip - now a late birthday present.
Send all the good karma you got to StealthEldorado! I'll do the same.
Hi Stealth - When I picked up my silver FJ last week, Copeland Toyota in Brockton on RT 24, had an extra Sun Fusion available, I'm not sure if its still up for grabs. Call Tony or Steve 800-611-8606
Looks like we might have some snow to play in Tuesday night, looking forward to it.

Yellow one is sold.
They are not sitting on the lots too long - at least not at Copeland
