Not that store... but I have heard good reviews about compustar and a friend of mine recently went to 6th Ave Electronics on Jericho Tpke by Larkfield road and said they treated him well and did a good install.
The install was on his Benz, btw.

Re: Anyone Ever Use MAIN STREET STEREO In Sayville? Looking for a Compustar on the Island

Had my Compustar installed there. Did a nice clean job. One thing, I did have to return once for them to do a minor code adjustment (engine would cut off about a minute after it started when it was locked, but was okay remote starting when unlocked - very weird) They said they didn't have the right codes for a fj cruiser, well after that, they got the correct codes Took 5 minutes to adjust

If you get yours done there, they shouldn't have a problem now that they did mine. BTW, tell Soo, the owner that Gery said hello if you do end up going there.

Initial install took a few hours, I waited for it. I would suggest have a buddy or sig other come along and go out and about for a while instead of waiting around for it.

One quirky thing about Compustar. If you park your vehicle near a firehouse or a police statiion, the range of the remote drops off dramatically. Soo, the owner of Main Street mentioned that a lot of police installed these units in their personal rigs and have noticed this. I've parked my fj near firestation and have noticed this as well. Has something to do with radio frequencies of emergency service radio bands.

Hope this helps. I will be getting some other stuff done there, after I do higher priority mods on my rig

Thanks!

Did you watch them work? I am interested in how they wire...if they loom everything and when they splice they solder and heat shrink stuff like that...

You can ask them and they say yeah yeah and then you look under the dash and every things a mess and all spliced with plastic clips...

What model did you get?

Thanks again!

Didn't watch them do the install of the alarm so I can't tell you what exactly they did with the wiring. Sorry.

I got the Compustar FM9000AS. $550 installed. I've heard cheaper prices elsewhere, but I've gotten work done there in the past and have always had good service. While I was there, most of the customers coming in were repeat customers - which to me is a good sign.
