Southern NH/Northern MA Trails for Newbie - Stocker

Hi Everyone - I'm a proud owner of a 2008 Sandstorm 4X4.
My truck is essentially stock, although I've added Toyota sliders, TRD CAI and I'll soon add BFG AT KO tires.

I'd like to get to know my trucks capabilities and meet some people.

Can anyone recommend (or PM) any legal "entry level" trails in Southern NH or Northern MA?

Thanks!

Re: Southern NH/Northern MA Trails for Newbie - Stocker

Hey Marc,

I'm from Nashua and I'll take a look into exploringNH.com

Is there a group meeting and/or any runs schedule anytime soon, or are they usually in the spring?

Also - can you recommend a good AT tire or should I go with a MT type?
I have the standard Bridgestone highway/all season tires and I want a good on/off road mix tire or a MT, but I don't want a rough or loud ride.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Eric

Re: Southern NH/Northern MA Trails for Newbie - Stocker

Welcome aboard borghete,
I run with Map06trd and a few FJ members here over at exploringNH, a lot of fun and a good way to get familiar with your FJ.
The runs should be starting up soon hopefully towards the end of February.
Did you buy your FJ at Toyota of Nashua? Thats where I bought mine great dealership.
As for the tires anything is better then the grandtreks, those things are horrible.
The BF all terrains are probably the best AT tire IMO
If your looking for a little more aggressive tire you might want to check out the hankook Rt03 Hankook Dynapro MT RT03 Mud Tire Reviews
They are considered a mud tire but form what people write about them they have more characteristics of a really aggressive AT tire.

Hey Eric, congrats and welcome to the board. Great buy, love the Sand color!
Thanks for the links to explorenh as well. I just got my Ti FJ and live just below you in Lowell. Let me know if you want to get together to just run down some roads till we both get use to the rigs. Looking forward to the runs in Feb. Starting to get cabin fever!

Re: Southern NH/Northern MA Trails for Newbie - Stocker

Hey Guys - thanks for the great info!
Yeah - I bought mine at Toyota of Nashua - it was a good experience.

I'm going to do some more research, and likely go with an aggressive AT tire.

Wheeling with the exploringNH group sounds good - should I hook up with those guys through their website, or do you think there will be enough buzz on this one?

Please keep me in the loop on any runs they do in late Feb. or beyond - I'm dying to get out there and get some experience.

Eric
