Re: NY People, a little help...

Yall are awesome!!! thank you so much for the help! The only bad part is I'll only be up there for the weekend... My friend actually lives in Jersey, but I don't plan on spending much time there... I'm excited and looking forward to it!

Jersey

There is also Arthurs steakhouse over in Hoboken NJ (only a Path train ride away from lower NYC). Great steak on the cheap. Great Beer selection. http://www.arthurstavern.com/
Hoboken has some really good bars and clubs. Better bang for the buck than NYC.

Re: NY People, a little help...

I would definitely recommend going to the NY Autoshow while you're here. It's a madhouse but a great experience and there is plenty of great cars to see. You may be lucky because Sunday is Easter and if you get there at 10am, when they open, many of the Christian folks will be in church...

If you had to go to only one tourist spot, I highly recommend going to the observation deck at the top of Rockefeller Center (www.topoftherocknyc). It is hands down the best panoramic view of the city and if you go in the morning, you generally avoid the crowds. You can make a reservation on-line but don't do it too far in advance and be sure to check the weather reports because it's not good on an overcast/rainy day.

Lastly, as far as nightlife goes, I recommend Cafe Wha in Greenwich Village. They have one of the best cover bands around and they put on a great show. They have two shows a night at 9:30pm and 11:45pm. http://www.cafewha.com

Also, the Peculier Pub is right down the street - they have an amazing selection of beers.

My last recommendation would have been to take the tour of Yankee Stadium - especially since it will be demolished after this season. Unfortunately it looks as if they've cancelled the tours for the Easter weekend.

From a guy with 30 years of working in NYC, use the Subway to get around. Faster and cheaper that cabs ! It's safe and clean and reliable.
