I've never driven it, and am unqualified to lead, but other trail reports show stock 4X4's making it. Still looking for a good map online. I think the usual start is either Maupin or Dufur West to Hwy. 35 or Government Camp.
Let me know if you find a map...I'd be up for a "scouting" party.
While Ive done a good deal of wheeling in the past I havent led these trails (my only reluctance really).

Ahhh! This looks cool! I am also more into adventuring style 4-wheeling with some decent challenges, but then I am not interested in bouncing my FJ off a rock wall, or playing submarine, or trying to make a new trail where there isn't one. In other words, I am not interested in thrashing my FJ. These trails looks sweet!!!

My family would be up for it! Late August before school starts would be best for us.
Around that time would be good for me as well. 60 days after our last software release, plenty of time to work out small issues, a lot of customers on vacation - just before the September rush.... Perfect.

Never did find an online map, so I scanned part of the Mt. Hood Nat'l. Forest map that includes the Barlow Road. I think it's the dashed line trail beginning West of Taylorville (WSW of Dufur) and continuing W until almost to Hwy. 35. The Zig-Zag ranger was hazy with directions, so I'll call Dufur station tomorrow to check on conditions and directions.

If you're thinking about running Barlow you better do it now. Snow will be coming soon and once it starts you won't be able to get near it until spring. There's quite a few relatively easy trails up around Mt. Hood.
Should we start a new posting regarding this weekend's Barlow Trail? Dont want to "hijack" the Disco Trail discussion (which I will gladly "over research" the logistics during the winter break).

Can't remember which magazine, but one of the 4x4/ off-road mags did a write up on a Land Rover club that did Route 4 and 5. I think the article ran about a month ago. They started in Prineville on Route 4 and took Route 5 all the way down to the Christmas Valley Dunes. Looked like a killer trip.
