Re: Barlow Trail

Latest update from Dufur ranger 5 min ago of proposed route:

'Wet', no snow, slow going, about 20 miles from recommended start point Gate Creek to Barlow Crossing return to 48. It doesn't sound as technical as the FJTT run at Brown's Camp, maybe 2-3 hours + photo ops, etc.

I'm flexible if we can get more to join on Sunday. Otherwise, I'll see you Saturday ~8 at the Wemme Safeway, Dirty. (Airbags? I think that could be an FJ world exclusive)

Edit: 1 Bored Clerk, if you're reading this, you're invited. We could meet up a little closer to you, say Government Camp or somewhere else on the way out. PM me if you like, or post up.

Re: Barlow Trail

Bill, change your plans! You HAVE to make this run (in case I need two FJ's to pull me out).

Thanks for those links. I've been refreshing my dim pioneer history memories lately and saw those. Incredible stories of survival. It'll be a treat driving part of what's regarded as the most challenging leg of their journey, with a few historic markers along the way.

Re: Barlow Trail

I'm in for this Sunday if possible. Now, are we talking 8 in the morning? Isn't that a bit early? I'll have to travel over from Tigard... I'd like to propose 9 if I could...

Re: Barlow Trail

I'm down with that. It would also give the trail another day to dry out. Will that work for you, Dirty? SoaS, how about you? And 1BC, be there.

Re: Barlow Trail

Figure an hour from Wemme to the trailhead, three hours for the road, then either home or optional runs. So from Sherwood, maybe 7-8 hours total. Of course I've never run that trail so I could be full of it. After Barlow Road I'm thinking of driving up the Timberline access trail to Palmer Glacier.

Re: Barlow Trail

I'd love to join you guys, but I'll be at EagleCrest with the wife this weekend. I chopped my mounts last weekend, so I'm ready to go some other weekend.
