My sister's in Sumner and they've had to go to a hotel for two nights and a friend's for another couple. Tree fell on their patio barely missing the house. She said it looks like a war zone.
How on earth can you get the message through to people that anything you burn including a fireplace (wood-burning) is a hazard? Aside from it constantly being on the news and, as you said above, putting it out there in all possiblel languages.
It's really sad.
Reminds me of all the people in New Orleans who died from running generators in their houses with all the windows closed... because it'll ventilate somehow, right?
I would think anyone who's accustomed to living "up north" would invest in a good old fashioned kerosene heater because the power doesn't decide to stay on just because it's cold outside...

You would think!...The problem is most of those Seattlites are transplanted Californians...nuff said.

I take offense to that comment (not really)...but my point it this. There are stupid people EVERYWHERE these days (I'm talking more about the decline of common sense street smarts, not book smarts)...from what I've seen state lines show no mercy when it comes to deciding which ones get in & which ones need to keep movin’...

YES...My left foot gets sad if it doesn't have a clutch pedal near by...
Now there is a story out there..... This sucks.......
There was this family of 5, they had their generator running in their garage because they didn't want to disturb the neighbors... Well it sounds like 4 of them didn't make it and the 5th is in serious condition.
I didn't hear about this happening in New Orleans.... I guess this does happen all over....
At the Home Depot by my work, there was a riot (small one) when they got their shipment of generators.... This kind of storm happens..... Once every 10-15 years, the last one was in 93. But come on people..... Why can't we all be civil???????
A cross between quasimoto and the elephant man..... But only the good parts!!!!!
Hello chewey46 it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?

I agree, I just like giving Californians $hit!
I think it's a downgrading of our society in general that causes people to believe they can't live without electricity, telephones, gasoline, etc...
If I were king for a day (there would be a lot of pissed off people the next day) I would have an annual week long holiday called "Get Back to Reality Week". Everything would be required to be closed for the entire week except for Hospitals (I have a feeling they'll be in high demand). And I mean everything, police, fire, grocery, banks, etc. All electricity would be turned off. All transportation (except ambulances) other than bicycles, or beasts of burden would be banned. Borders, ports, and airports would be shut down and street justice would prevail....sounds like fun and entertainment for everyone!
