Re: Looking for a little advice for relocation...

Thanks Buford,

yeah, i think that's the consensus on here. Find something you like to do, not neccessarily in the field of your said degree.

and yes, life is too short to do something you dislike.

FJ33,

Yeah, I totally understand about being in harms way only if you put yourself there. It's just my mom that won't listen.

I got a question for you. Do you know where someone with a 4 year degree would start on their pay chart? Like would you already be an officer?
I'm not sure how that works.
If you came in and got accepted to OCS it would be $2,469.30 a month, but you get paid for housing costs and other stuff.

Check out the link

yeah. Grad school is definitely an option. The only thing is, I have no idea what I'd like to study.
I graduated with tons of people who had no clue what to do so they went to grad school. All it did for them is still get an entry evel job with no experience and MORE DEBT.

Again just my opinion but if your comapany thinks you are valuabe enough and they want you do get your masters then they'll pay for it for you.

Re: Looking for a little advice for relocation...

thanks FJ33, I was looking at the page for a while and for some reason i couldn't really figure out the pay chart. I just didn't know where I would fall into it.

Buford, yeah grad school is expensive and right now I am busy paying off my current school loans, so there's no way I am gonna put myself through more schooling, especially if I have no idea what i want to do.

So yeah I think I am gonna have to just stop looking for jobs and start looking for places that I would like to live. Do you guys have any favorites?

Er - not sure what just happened there - BUT ANYWAY -

Get out there and see the world. Check stuff out and try new things - But trust me on this one - You'll end up back in Maine eventually. I've been to almost every state in the country, and there is no place like Maine. You can always come back, so take some chances - life is short, and with a good, reliable vehicle, the sky is the limit!

Re: Looking for a little advice for relocation...

MaineFJ,

Yeah, there is no doubt in my mind that I'll be back in Maine. Probably to start a family. I love it here. But the fact of the matter is, I do need to get out there and see what other places have to offer.

And if I'm lucky, i might just find a little hottie that just "LOVES" my FJ

Plus did you know that more people from maine win the Tristate megabucks out of all the tristates. Interesting little tidbit I learned one day while driving to work. I cannot back that up, other than I'm pretty sure what I heard was correct

My pop is out in AZ - just awesome country out there. There are a ton of folks on these boards from out west, and they have posted some beautiful pictures of their FJs in the elements.

Yeah - I've heard the megabucks stats about maine, too - I never win anything, but apparantly our fellow states-folks do pretty well with the old lottery. It is pretty sad that between Maine, VT and NH, we can barely generate a jackpot of a half million bucks! No wonder you want to try something new - there is no money here!

Yeah, out west does look great. I've seen a lot of those pics and I think that's a big reason why I want to head out that way for a little bit. There's so much to see.
I take the ocean for granted. Hell, I take living in a national park for granted sometimes! Not so much anymore though. So I'll be back, cause I will miss the freezin cold ocean water on my feet, the smell of the clam flats and availability of some good seafood

Yeah, they should start trying to keep college graduates in Maine. I heard of some talk of certain companies in Maine paying for a graduates loans if they work for them. Or maybe it was the state was going to try and do that, like we need to be taxed anymore though

I think I might melt in Arizona though. There's something about heat that gets to me, I just turn into a puddle.
