well, I did a good job of keeping you NOT posted - sorry. I had sick kids, one is better and off to school today, the other is still down for the count.

I hope you got out there and had some fun. We'll try again another day.
Just got home from work (gone two weeks). I'll be off the next two weekends, but have obligations for memorial day (camping trip with family). Perhaps the weekend after? I didn't take the FJ back to the glacier, but I did get back there with the 4-wheelers. Took about 3hrs round trip and it is actually 25 miles to the ice. I had to be home by 4pm so the 4-wheelers were the only way to go. At 50 miles round trip it's definitely going to be an all day affair getting back there with the FJ's. At some points we were doing 40mph on the atv's and 20mph in the mogulled areas that I was only able to get the FJ to about 10mph.

I'm heading to Texas this Saturday, I won't be back in time to join you. Keep the pictures flowing and have a great trip! Eventually we will wheel together!

Re: Alaska Owners?

Rode the first part of Pinochle Trail this weekend. We made it back to the top of the valley right before suicide hill. Had to winch myself out twice, but once I got the hang of keeping the wheels spinning to throw the mud out of the tread things went pretty well.

Re: Alaska Owners?

Here's some more pics of the Pinochle Trail ride. The Alaska thread seems to be getting a bit long

Re: Alaska Owners?

^^Wow. Real nice. I want to go back out there after I get my snorkel put on. I probably have time for one more good ride out there before I leave Alaska in a few weeks.

Re: Alaska Owners?

After the Pinochle ride I'm starting to feel the need for more lift and bigger tires. I need to figure out an under armor solution first though. I did some damage to the Rear lower control arm bracket and need to figure out a good solution for that first. The pictures are in the post below.

Trailing arm mount - how to replace/repair/upgrade?

The Allpro solution looks good, but I can't help but think that cutting the original brackets off and having new stronger ones welded on would be the best solution. I may hit up the guys who did Byrdman's bumper and see what they would charge for this and the body mount chop. I am also going to be looking for a supplier of 4x8 sheets of 1/2" UHMW to get some temporary protection underneath the FJ.

I spent yesterday scraping all the mud from the nooks and crannies underneath the FJ and was quite surprised at just how much mud/sand these things carry around underneath.

Re: Alaska Owners?

AAAHHHHHH!!!! AWESOME looking trip! That was some serious slop to get through! Where was this at? I haven't been out in mine in a while, new boat has taken up alot of my time - I think I'm going to head out to Jim's Creek Saturday. Weather is going to be nasty so I'm sure it'll be a "we'll see" thing.

Re: Alaska Owners?

Let me know if you do end up going. Looks like we are going to be hanging out close to home this weekend so I might be up for a diversion to Jim Creek Saturday. I'm still tying up some loose ends with my FT-8800R install, but hopefully someone (home depot, lowes, frigid north) will be open tomorrow so I can finish it off, otherwise I may have to wait until Saturday morning which means a bit of a late start.

*edit*Tied up the loose ends, just need to get more zip ties on the install in the future. I'll check back in the early AM and let you know if I'm going to head that way.

You going Byrdman?

Re: Alaska Owners?

I'm heading out there Friday for some fishing, if it's too crowded or by the grace of God I limit out early enough I may do some 4 wheelin in the FJ. Sunday we are going out on 4 wheelers all day, should be out there by 10 am. Should be a decent size group going.
