New FJ owner, Anchorage. I like the FJ stickers with the AK background, where do you get them?

I'm still working on getting a quote for the production of the stickers. I hope to have it finalized and ordered in the next week. It looks as though there is enough interest to order 100-150 to keep price down. It's all out of pocket so I'm a little nervous.

Those were some great photos! Great to see an FJ off the road

My son and our lab lucy. She loves the water, even when it's glacial runoff and probably only 36f.

We saw several planes and helicopters in the area and this was one of my wifes best pictures of one of them. We did get a pretty close flyover (75ft) from a super cub, but unfortunately the camera wasn't handy.

Here's our return crossing of Jim Creek. Jim Creek is behind us in this picture and the water was only 12-16" deep because we were actually driving on ice that was under water.

The hill climb, I made it halfway the first run, backed down and put it in 4L for the second attempt and had no trouble making to the top. There was no way down at the top though, so i had to turn around and come down the same way I went up. On the way down, I got a couple thumbs up from 2 guys near the bottom who were target practicing with a couple rifles.

wow... it's pics like these that get me that much more excited!
we're due to depart WA early May and will be in Valdez around the 15th or so, catching the ferry on the 18th down to our new 3-yr home in Cordova....
can't wait! although, the 6-day drive is gonna be brutal

oh, and our 2 dogs would LOVE to go swimming with Lucy! from small water puddles to oceans, it's nearly impossible to keep them out of the water

Re: Alaska Owners?

You'll be getting to Cordova at a perfect time. Spring bear hunting will be fully underway, sockeye salmon will just be starting their run, halibut fishing will be in full swing, there will be about 16hrs. of daylight, temps will be mild and most of the snow should be gone.

oh, we can't wait... we've got so much stuff stocked up for the move it's unreal... people at Costco were looking at us like we're throwing a party for 1000 people or something

we found an awesome site/forum for all things AK (Alaska Outdoor Directory Forums)... hubby is getting antsy about the hunting/fishing...

my only hesitation is the bears- don't wanna turn into a Timothy Treadwell bear snack

Re: Alaska Owners?

I wouldn't worry too much about the bears. I've been up here for almost three years (the official anniversary is May 26) and have yet to see one. I think the last time I saw one (alive) was on my drive up here and that was just a cub in Canadia. It was crossing the road and it scared the crap out of me 'cuz I thought the mom would've been nearby and would've charged my car. Yes, I drove up here in a lowered 2005 Corolla. Now I know better. You may get to see more bears because of your location. I've mostly stayed in Anchorage, so that's probably why I haven't run into any. Good luck. It's quite the scenic drive.

In other news, anyone wanna do anything this weekend or next? I just got my Borla on and I'm feeling froggy.

Re: Alaska Owners?

I'm going to try to get to Jim Creek tomorrow. 3/30 We should hit the trail around 1130, not sure who all is going with me though, we were all pretty sloppy last night when we made the plans so I'm not sure if they even remember

Re: Alaska Owners?

Another day on the trials. Lost a Motorola radio today, was kind of a bummer but what can you do. Bent the end of the tailpipe crossing the stream in the pics. I am going to have all the fluids replaced tomorrow because coming back across Jim Creek we picked the wrong line and hit about 2' of water. The FJ once again had no problems with anything on the trail, but just to be safe I'm going to change everything out especially since I haven't done the scuba mod yet

Nice photos again! It's great to see someone take these things off-road...I've shown my wife some of your other photos and she's practically jumping up and down about taking ours off road...although she did get an opportunity to take it onto some back roads in Homer about a week ago. She had a blast with that.

Re: Alaska Owners?

Hey Everyone

New to Alaska for New Jersey. The Air Force is what brings me here. Always loved the FJ, but didn't have a use for it in Jersey. I just picked one up this past weekend and I'm excited to take it out and see what it can do. Looking forward to learning a lot from everyone here.
