Any other recommended trails @ Tilamook

All,

Had a lot of fun on the trails the NWFJCC did a few weeks back (a portion of Arche's firebreak and Firefox). I've been there twice since to show out of town guests what Oregon looks like. All were impressed.

I'm now getting bored with those trails -- even thought they are a little different each time.

Can anyone suggest some others in that area? The map isn't all that helpful and if I'm going to go solo, I'd prefer not to push the limits.

Thx.

DR

Not a trail, but an ORV park near Tillamook. You'll need a flag and permit ($10 at Joe's). Spectacular views and FJ makes child's play of the dunes at Sand Lake. Weekdays are best, it gets busy with ATV's on weekends. Have fun all afternoon, watch the sunset, dine at the Riverhouse Grill in Pacific City and it doesn't get much better than that:

Those dunes are real small, but fun for a FJ. Head down to Florence and check out the dunes down there, its a whole diffrent ball game.

Re: Any other recommended trails @ Tilamook

Searching for Goat Mountain, I found a couple of links and 4x4 group Gitout.com. They had some good stuff; directions to Goat Mountain and a video of their 2007 run to Goat Mt. I also found a link to Oregon Byways.

Re: Any other recommended trails @ Tilamook

Cool. I was thinking we should start recording GPS points for particular trails in the area and stashing them somewhere.

I have had the same idea. There is a web site called Waymarking - A scavenger hunt for unique and interesting locations in the world. This is from GroundSpeak, the same company that does Geocaching.com. Waymarker lets you save, categorize, and share your GPS points. It is not widely used yet but I think it is a great concept.

Gotta go through Estacada to get there! But, Ollalie is still snow-locked, so we're headed to Timothy Lake through Estacada, and that Goat thing sounds pretty cool. We're in for a day of fun. A great BBQ for lunch. Sending Tim off to Quantico and meeting a bunch of new people. You're going to miss a killer run Dave!
