Re: Browns Camp 5-18

For all those who worked today......

This was a little narrow........ and this is the side with the most room

All pics, as usual they are not great but the day was amazing.
Browns-Camp-May-2007

We ended up wheeling for about 4 hours and of course I never took the time to jump out and take pictures of the really good stuff. All I will say is that the grin on my face at the top of some of the runs was classic. Bernd can fill in the gaps on which trails we ended up doing.

These little FJ's are great, I hardly had to work for it at all.

Oh and those magnetic shield do work. I have pin stripes leading up to them, none where they were placed. I did end up with a good one across the length of my bonnet (hood) no shield their. Just need to keep the underside clean so I don't rub grit into the paint.

Re: Browns Camp 5-18

I am sooooooooo jealous........still got the mud on mine from last weekend at the Timothy lake run.......been house bound all week with the "creepin' cruds".

Looks like it was a perfect day......FJ's, dirt, wheelin', what a life! Sure would've liked to have been there.

Bernd, I don't work fridays, so if you ever get the itch again on a friday, let me know for sure.

Great pics, hope there's more.

Re: Browns Camp 5-18

Mick
Great pics. It was a blast wheeling with you today. Sorry that you had to listen to Gabby (conrad) on Firebreak Five, but you did allow him to ride in your rig.
OK the day started at the McDonalds and then we headed out to Browns Camp. We aired down and started out on to Powerline (4). Then I noticed that University Firepower (10) was open so we headed up the section that was closed for the winter. We then went back to the Powerline(clear cut section) and stayed on it until we came to the little Rubicon ( not doing that). We then drove up Hoodraiser(20). We then headed up the first section of Hogs Back(18). I then tried to squeeze in to the last section (sign read 76" in width warning). I started in and desided that it might be to narrow. I don't mind scratchs but a dent would break my heart. So I backed out. After this we headed to the bottom of Firebreak Five(14) and headed up. You all should have seen the smile on Micks face. I do believe he enjoyed this one. We then took a quick food stop before heading to Ceder Tree (13). Thanks Tim for telling me to do this one. What a fun trail. This was the first time I drove it. We went down it,next time I'll try up. At this point we thought it best to head back. To much Family in town. So we headed to to the lower section of University Firepower(10) and headed up to the Powerline(4) and back out to Browns Camp to air up. Again thank you Mick for joining me, Paul, and Gabby. We had a pleasent day. I hope all goes well with your surgery and call or pm me when your ready to go out again.
Bernd

Re: Browns Camp 5-18

Conrad is cool. He can ride with me (and my version of gabby) next time. They can have a Chatty-Kathy a-thon.

Re: Browns Camp 5-18

Np bernd, wish I could have gone. I got to my client about 10 am and by 11 she had canceled because she was sick. Some people need to get it right and stop wasting my time, so I can wheel of course. So cedar tree was cool eh? no crazy off camber just some really tight spots that make you wish for a spotter. Now imagine doing that trail in the snow and ice of the Jan run. Yikes is right. Did you go under the cedar tree or around. Just ask BT17r about going under. He scraped his right rear quarter bad enough to nearly crease it. Somehow he managed to buff it all out. That was where I got my first skid plate measurements, by finding stumps. Cool pics and awesome run it looks like you got to do lots of trails.

It looks like the nasty transition on hogsback has gotton worn down quite a bit. of course those offset holes preclude anyone without locker or atrac from going back up that hill. At least without some good driver skill. Last time I went up that alone was in the november monsoon out there.

Everytime I have seen that run, not once did I consider squeezing an FJ through it. I am in awe.
