I'd go with new shoes first. Then take it on a trail. you'll be impresed at how well the FJ wheels right out of the box. I've taken alot of newbs to Browns Camp and all of them ended the day with big smiles and more respect for there rigs. And then thats when the mod bug hits them. I will gladly take you out there. I ran 285 70/R17 BFG's before I was lifted with no rubbing at all. Rock rails are also a must. Mine have saved my FJ from body damage a number of times. They also work well as door stops in parking lots. If you have any specific questians please PM me. I'vw done all my own work on my FJ and I'm willing to help out anyone. This is what it looks like for now.
Damn bernd, your rigs looking awesome since I last saw it. I bow to thee! Is your young-un making the trip on Sunday?

How about a couple of pointers?

Those are handsome! They'd be a nice addition to any FJ.

Okay, hopefully I won't change my mind so much, but so far what I'm going to get are:

1. TRD wheels
2. I'm unsure what tires to get, however, I don't want specific mud tires, or dune tires, but rather all around kind of tires...maybe a Bridgestone'ish?
3. TRD muffler
4. K&N intake
5. TBD
6. TBD
7. CB Radio
8. Wet Okole Seat Covers
9. Recovery Shackle
10. Yakima/Thule rack
LOL, your list changed a lot in 24 hours. Wait till you've been here a few days - you'll have 50 more things you "gotta" have.

Pointers are nice, but a bit too active for me, so here is my pooper mutt Mollie! She's yellow just like my bumblebee

Umm, how do you attach pic? I don't have any URL to point it too

Re: Any pointer for a newbie?

IMO, beat the crap out of your stock alloys and buy a new set when you can no longer get them to balance. That's what I'm doing...

Re: Any pointer for a newbie?

I've thought of that and still thinking about it. However, if I buy a 17" BFG and I beat the crap out of my stocks, then I'm screwed if I want a TRD wheel and they come only in 16"

Oh, and by the way, anyone care to give me your humble opinion regarding OME vs TRD suspension? Which of the two would you choose andy why in a nutshell? I greatly appreciate it!

Re: Any pointer for a newbie?

I don't know what you are trying to haul but forget the Yakima/Thule rack. I had a load warrior at first and there is no room and they cannot handle enough weight. I added an ARB rack and I love it. I put my yakima cobra bick racks on it with universal mounts and I still have soooooo much room.

As far as tires go the best all around tire would be the Bridgestone Revos.
I had thought about getting them but know I have changed my mind. I have AR Thugs on order and I do not want to trash them so I am running 3 sets of rims and tires.
1. Firestone Destination MT on steel rims.
2. Bridgestone Blizzak DMZ on the stock alloys.
3. Stock Bridgestones on the AR Thugs.

Firestone will rotate for free and I just put on what I need when I need it.

Re: Any pointer for a newbie?

The only reason I'm looking at Thule/Yakima is the cargo rack. I plan to haul most items that I'd like covered by rain and snow. But I will take a look at ARB racks. I'll also check out those Revo's here when I have down time from work.

TRD won't give you any lift just better shocks unless the offering has changed recently. Go with the OME which provide you the heavier duty springs, which provides you the 2.5" -3" lift.
