Hiking Trails around Portland??

Any recommendations of easy to moderate, half day hiking trails within 1/2 hrs of Portland. Maybe something with some light four wheeling involved, ha ha maybe just a long fireroad. I know there are some trails in Browns Camp, but the girlfriend will know what I am up to if we head out there.

Just looking to spend a day out somewhere and see some sights. So what are your favorite places to go.

Hey, if you plan to some wheeling let me know, I'd love to tag along. I'm not prep'ed for hiking yet and I want to start hiking myself. However, if I do hike, we'd like to join you too later down the road. We as in my dog and I. If hiking trails doesn't not allow dogs, I'll more likely won't go.

Re: Hiking Trails around Portland??

well the Vista Ridge Road leads to the Vista Ridge Trail on Mt. Hood which is pretty cool. I wonder the condition of the FR18 road from zigzag up thru lola pass

easier to find would be to just go to timberline and hike around up there

powells books has dozens of hiking books on the pdx area

also see this site

or this one

Go to Zig Zag and take lolo pass to clear lake.

I think it is a 7 mile hike around clear lake and it is dog and girlfriend friendly.

Get a map or GPS, it is kind of confusing getting thru lolo pass.
