Oregon Dunes in August?

Is there anyone interested in meeting up and exploring the Oregon Coast(dunes)? My family and I have an open calendar the first three weekends of August. We spent the weekend in Yachats a month or so ago and we visited the dunes but we didn't try them as I wasn't sure how the FJ would handle them. After our recent trip to Moab we have the desire to tackle some dunes.

Re: Oregon Dunes in August?

I'm headed up in that direction in the second or third week of August (dates open) just to knock around on vacation. I'd be interested in hitting the dunes. Perhaps we can compare notes and see who else may want to come along.

Re: Oregon Dunes in August?

I've been wanting to do this for some time. I'm open for mid-late August. Note that Son of a Son is back in town then and hopefully can join us (scroll down):

I'm also open in August, however I'm joining the Aug 18/19 trail and boat race in Pasco, WA. Unless something comes up and I can't go, I may join you guys. Regardless, keep us posted as to when, where and what time!

I'm up for Dunes in August, pretty much any weekend. My FJ hasn't seen the sand yet. Let us know!

My rig tasted both sand and ocean water at Gearheart beach twice now. It's fun beach to drive, although you can't tear up the beach like the dunes, but fun nevertheless! But I gotta tell ya, its a F!@#$% ***** when you gotta wash it down later When you think you got it all washed down, you'll see them later again. I usually wash it by hand, then take it to a car wash just to be safe than sorry. Those salt water can be nasty!

FYI: At this point the August run in Tri-Cities is canceled. I don't have the time to do the race and the run at the same time. If someone else wants to lead the group then that's fine, I will get you all into the track for free camping, but I will not be running that weekend. Unless it's a close run (like BC with Tim), I will not be participating in any runs until mid-September.
