Thanks man. Yea, I can't stop checking out the truck in the driveway and constantly wanting to get out and drive it even more than before.

I went ahead and took it back to Discount today and traded in for the 265's. Not quite ready to do the body mount chop yet. I'm still getting a little rubbing but it's just the rubber flap, not the mount anymore.
It may be the normal slight differences in each FJ's construction. I'm running the same wheels/shoes and I've had no rub on mine at all. The only other thing I can think of is that the other set of Thugs was a different spec. As they got both of these sets when they ordered my set I assumed they were the same just because they only ordered one set and accidentally got two.

Re: Body mount chop in Seattle area?

Yea, I'd been meaning to post and ask if yours were rubbing. The offset/backspacing must be different between the two sets of Thugs Les Schwab got. They still look good even with the rubbing though.

Make a run down here to OR for the weekend. We can do it for you why you wait, or snag our truck and go wine tasting why we chop your mounts.

Re: Body mount chop in Seattle area?

Hmmm, I might just have to do that sometime in the future. I'll have to keep you in mind for when I ever do this chop. Thanks.

Your problem has to be caused by the wheel offset, because there are a lot of FJ's here with larger tires and no rub.

If you can't swap the wheels and you can't lift the whole vehicle, you can still level the front with one of the many ways discussed in other threads (OME 883 Coils being the most popular). This raise the front of the body including the body mount. Every FJ I've seen has the body mount at or above the center of the wheel (widest part of the wheel). By raising the body, the body mount will align with higher up on the wheel where the wheel is narrower.

A 2.25" leveling kit should give you 3/8-7/16" more clearance. This should be enough unless the body mount is really digging into the tire at full articulation.

Leveling the front has minimal impact on the overall height of the vehicle, because even with the factory rack the highest point is closer to rear.
