Talking OME install this weekend...

Ordered my OME Med/Med suspension today from MetalTech! I will finally be getting my ARB bumper installed!

Winch, All Pro lower control arm links, and Ham Radio probably next month.

Any takers on helping me with the install? I'm a mechanical noob so I can use all the help I can get. We were originally going to head to the Oregon Coast this weekend (took Friday & Monday off too) but the weather looks like it is going to be wet & cold so we cancelled, that means I have four days to install my lift, front bumper and lights. Any takers on some assistance?

I might even begin tomorrow night after I pick up the lift from ARB will call in Renton. I am in need of some spring compressors to get those struts on, anyone have some I can borrow? If not I can go pickup some cheapo's at HF or CRAPs.

Thumbs up Re: OME install this weekend...

You might want to buy 2 sets of spring compressors. Put three of the four on the spring when compressing. I did an OME Heavy/Heavy lift last week, and my springs compressors bowed tremendously. Kind of scary. My brother ended up fabbing a "contraption" to compress the fronts all the way. The rears are a piece of cake though.

Have fun!

Re: OME install this weekend...

I should be able to give you a hand this weekend. I'm not available Saturday, but Friday and Sunday should work. By the way I live like 4 miles from ARB if you need me to pick anything up for you.

Got everything picked up today, had to drive up myself as Chris had another scratch & dent item I had to pay for... fog lights for the front bumper!

Naaah. Take the set into a 4x4 shop and have them compress the springs with their compressors. That's what I did. Cost me only $20. Was worth every single penny. Those mechanical spring compressors are an accident waiting to happen.

Talking Re: OME install this weekend...

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP TODAY STEVE!!!! It was great having an experienced ARB installer helping out and a reference rig just outside.

The lift goes on tomorrow. A friend of mine is letting us use his shop and commercial grade spring compressor so hopefully things will go real smooth tomorrow morning. Stock springs definitely don't support all the armor I've added.... if I add any more weight to it I'll have to start hanging out with the low rider Scion crowd.
Better pics tomorrow during day light hours after the lift is on.

The lift is ON!!!

BEFORE

AFTER

I'll take some more pics later, I need to finish my wiring and switch install as I half-a$$ed it just to get 'em on. I took some before height pics, need to take some after to see what the difference actually is. More to follow.

I can not believe the difference this suspension made in the ride quality, OME nailed it!

Couldn't get into the shop today with the lift, no biggie we still had access to air tools!
