Less than a week to go, and of course, everything goes wrong.

Isn't that life?

So, I'm prepping the FJ for SEMA and I've run in to a snag. Here's what I have to install on the truck before Friday:

Full set of Tuffy Security products (Roof box, light rack, rear drawer, center console) <---- not even here yet. Fortunately it's all clamp on/bolt down stuff
Rotora brakes <---- not even here yet. Fortunately I'm experienced with these and install should only take a few hours
Skid plates <---- have no clue what's going on with those
Revtek lift <---- here, but I have to install. Hopefully I have a spring compressor
K&N induction system <---- if it's difficult to install, I'm in the wrong business
Wheels and tires <---- tires are here, who knows where the wheels are... And that's the whole reason it's going!

I don't even have D-Rings on my bumper or a hi-lift jack.

Oh, and then here's the best part. My window was cracked across the whole bottom half because... Well, who's hasn't cracked yet? So I take it down to the glass guy and he says "No problem! I'll have it done Monday!" He calls up today and says he couldn't get it done, but gives me the name of a guy who can. No biggie, right? Then he calls back a few minutes later and says the roof is dented from him trying to get the glass out.

So how it's over at the body shop still with a cracked windshield and "if all goes right it'll be done Wednsday."

YAY!

Send the word out to all the local FJ'rs in your area for help, like A2A did. Next, buy some beer. They'll show up!

Well I have a shovel and axe so that's not a problem.

I'd love a set of Wet Okole seat covers though!

Re: Less than a week to go, and of course, everything goes wrong.

Well the wheels showed up yesterday, so that's a start. They're dubs but they're just going on for the show so who cares.

Looks like I might have a high-lift too. Now all my other stuff has just got to show up before Friday and I'm set.

Re: Less than a week to go, and of course, everything goes wrong.

Sooooooooooo I'm sittin' here thinkin'..........if the glass guy dents my roof while trying to replace the glass!!!!!!!!!! WTF? Are these guys hacks, or what?

I certainly hope the body shop guy doesn't break the friggin' windshield.

I'd seriously consider getting some new references!

How the heck do you dent a roof replacing the glass? I've seen the windshield replacement done (on my own rig)........ GET A NEW GLASS GUY!

BTW Sorry to hear about the problems. Good Luck.

He's just never done an FJ before and had no idea what to do. He normally does excellent work, he was just rushed and messed it up.

Oh well, the other guy did an excellent job (and so did my body guy) and none of it cost me a cent (the window was $1000 and the body work was almost $1100!), so it's all good!
