Off-road lights, installation referral?

Hey guys, I have not yet gotten around to wiring up my off-road lightbar setup... although it has been mounted for quite some time. I set today aside to do it and realized it's a bit over my head. Does anyone have a "guy they know" or someone they can refer me to for installation? I'm prepared to spend a couple hundred bucks to get it done right.

(4 lights already mounted, wanting to wire 12-Gauge through the A-pillar initially concealed by wire Loom - not interested in drilling through the roof... unless it can be done with assurance of no leakage or other issues. I still need to buy the 12-Gauge wire & Rocker switch)

I appreciate any referral you can give me. I live in Renton, WA!

Re: Off-road lights, installation referral?

If you go to the website for CarTalk (Click and Clack on Sundays, NPR- great show) they have a 'mechanix files' where people recommend good shops. I'd take a look there- either that or see if there's any 4x4 specialty shops in the area who can give you some names.

Good luck with it!

I did my own lights but Central 4WD is in Kent. They did my lift and did a good job on it. I know someone else who had a lift, an ARB bumper, and a winch put on his FJ at Central and he seems to like their work as well.

If Central did lights I'd probably take it there, but I'm pretty sure they don't do light installs. Perhaps I should call them tomorrow and check...

I'm not sure if they do or not. I know they sell them there and they did wire the ones that are in the ARB bumper. 4WD Parts up in Lynnwood will do them for 100 bucks a pair but all they wanted to do is talk to me about putting a bumper on my rig, and they couldn't seem to wrap their head around the fact that I wasn't buying a bumper from them. So far I've not had very good experiences the few times I've been in there and I've heard from a co-worker that they don't do very good wiring work.

Toys For Trucks in north Lynnwood/South Everett will do lights, I don't remember how much they quoted off hand. When I went in there they seemed a bit scared of the FJ as they'd never worked on one at that time.

There's also Tech Autosound that does lights and a bunch of other electrical equipment like stereos, alarms, HID kits etc. They have really good customer service and did great wiring work on my alarm system. It too is in Lynnwood which is pretty far from Renton.

Randy's Off-Road in Marysville is supposedly a good shop according to a friend of mine. I've been in there to talk to the guys and they had never worked on an FJ before but seemed excited at the prospect of it.

Central 4WD is the only reputable place I've heard near Renton. I have heard that 4 Wheel Parts in Tacoma is pretty solid however.
