My youngest son has a snow camp out at Sheppards Camp (near Greenwater) on Sunday and Monday with Cub Scouts, so we're all going up there. Catch ya next outing to Tahuya! Enjoy!
Check. Sorry you can't make it. I'm sure hangn' with the cub scouts in the snow will be a blast too though. See you on the 20th.

HAHA, oh no, even worse....I'm a Californian! Only lived in Oregon for 2.5 years. Haven't lived in Cali for 18 years though. So I don't really know what I am! Never been one for labels anyway.

Over on the NWFJCC site I posted a request for folks who might want to join me either the 13th or the 20th. Both Sundays. The 13th in GPNF (north of Stevenson, WA), and the 20th to Tahuya. We've got about five or so people confirmed for both runs so far. Post up here, (or on the NWFJCC forum) if you want to go. We're meeting at the same spot as the last Stevenson run meeting place at 8 AM. No meeting place for Tahuya yet. I don't know the area well enough. If anyone here has any ideas for that, let me know. Oh, and Bobtail went out to Stevenson this week and said there is a lot of snow up there, so if you want to come, be prepared for what looked to be a minimum of 12" of snow, if not more.
So far, the list looks like this,
GPNF on the 13th
Meeting at the old gas station on the west end of town (where we met last time. It's across from the Chevron. This Google map is pretty close. Just look for all the other FJs
If you don't see your name on the list, just post up and I'll update it. If it's tentative, I'll put a ? next to your name.
Ok So I am a go for the Tahuya Run... Sounds like a great time... Can't wait to play in the snow...
I can't make it to the Stevension run though....

I would like to see more people come north for north events, and more go south for south events. I am thinking if the start times could be pushed a little, this would help a lot. Meeting at 8 at Stevenson pretty much requires getting a room for North people, and from a family perspective, we have to "leave" our families for Sat night and most of Sunday. If the meet time was 9:30, a lot more of us would be willing to get up at 6 am and do the drive down. I realize that makes the daylight time in the woods less.
Anyhow, what times are the meeting and leaving times for these next two Sundays?

Kurt, the Stevenson run is at 8:00 AM at the same place we meet last time, just inside Stevenson, hope you can make it.
As far as what you are saying " I would like to see more people come north for north events and more go south for south events". I would have to AGREE. What about some run's in Eastern WA/OR, we have so many place's over here to wheel it is crazy and at such a diversity of terrain. But yet it only seem's as if we have 1 run over here, the Nache's run. I would love to see some future event's head this way. If for some reason it is because nobody know's the trails over here, I would be more than happy to lead the way. Maybe once we have our first meeting we will be able to discuss issues such as this. By no mean's am I complaining, Jim and Bernd both do a FANTASTIC job puting this on and keeping this together for us, and I am GREATLY APPRECIATED. None of this would be possible if it werent for them.
Jim and Mary are in for the GPNF run, but we have to bail no later than Noon. Safety, recovery and survival gear are a must.
This an not an NWFJCC sanctioned run.
The snow in the area is very high with more coming tonight. First and very foremost in these conditions is safety. Please be very careful on both the north and south runs.
Expect a NWFJCC sanctioned run some time in February.

OK, I'm trying to keep up with the list here, but y'all are confusing me a bit. Jim (007fj), You have yourself as confirmed for the Tahuya run here, and canceled for the Tahuya run, but on for the Stevenson run on the NWFJCC forum. Which is it?
I suppose it doesn't matter all that much. I'd just like to have a good idea of who is coming so we don't leave anyone behind.
Kurt, I understand what you are saying. I think for this GPNF run, we've got it set for 8am. Unless everyone is willing to wait at bit. But since Jim is going to need to leave early, I think we should keep it at 8 for this one. I think during summer runs it wouldn't be as much of an issue, as daylight isn't any issue.
FJ Cruzer, I'm down to go pretty much anywhere. I'm just not familiar with any place out there. Nothing from stopping you from getting folks together. That's all I'm doing here. But since I'm new to the region and only know a few places, my suggestions are limited. But I'm always up for discovering new places.
