*sigh* Well my new windshield stayed pristine for 169 hours. There is now a large star from the gasket to the wiper on the driver's side. Thank you uncovered gravel truck 1/2 mile ahead of me dropping rocks for others to throw up with their tires.
Hopefully it can be patched, but I'm not so sure since there isn't actually a crater. If not, Geico already said they'll pay for a new windshield again.
Holy crap, so to hear about this Jen. Something really needs to be done about this, but what can we do? We're stuck with the windshield and it's probably cheaper for insurance companies to just replace the glass than attempt to go after someone in court who dropped the rocks or threw them at you (if they even can).
I've gotten a number of small chips and one decent sized one on the way home from the Stevenson run last November. But I was able to fix it with a repair kit from Autozone two days later, thankfully with no cracks. I don't know what they put down on the roads in Washington when it snows, but here they sprinkle gravel. I would rather have that than salt any day, but the gravel has it's own problems....

Got the bad news today, new windshield number two, here I come! Here's hoping the insurance doesn't go up too much in May because of it. I would ignore it, but with all of my driving all over creation for work, I need to make sure the cracks don't suddenly radiate upwards into my field of vision. Night driving with a broken windshield sucks.

Hey guys, Just reading this over,, So sorry to hear about this Jen,..
What about putting the 3M clear film across the windshield?..????
The stuff is tuff and clear, I can't even see it on the front of the cars we do, So I don't think the visablity would be hammpered? Just an Idea we could look into futher...
Other than that I can't think of a way to stopp getting cracks in the shield, and all.. I know my Gheeps were terrible at it..

I think the Clearplex would have helped prevent my first replacement, but there is no way it would have helped with the second. The rock actually hit the gasket rather than the glass. The film unfortunately wouldn't have stopped that. Also, the location and shape of the damage is what prevented a repair today.
I'm not really upset about it, just annoyed that I keep losing my Fridays off since I have to plan my day around replacing the stupid windshield.

That really Sucks.... I am just glad to hear there wasn't any body damage..
I think we need to get the Rocket Launcher MOD done.. This way when we get hit on the Freeway by a rock we can just blow up the offending vehicle and take care of the problem...

Geez, Jen, what luck, eh? You are, however, providing a good service by making all of us (that aren't sure) check that we have windshield coverage in our policies, so at least some good comes out of it.
