Great, thanks! I am thinking about attaching it to the roof rack, but I noticed a few had it attached to the rear door hinge, did they drill thru it or something?
Sorry for the lame question's but before I do it I want to make sure I have seen different styles.
Thanks again!
My rig is the 6th from the top from left to right, the sandstorm. I wire tied my flag to my firestik antenna and works great!
2nd row down, 2nd photo from left is my "Firestick" flag mounted in place of my cb antenna. Since the cb isn't working right now (I used a portable with external magnetic antenna instead), I used the "Bandi Mount" for the flag.
The Bandi is available only from AllPro off road, and they charge $49 for it, plus shipping of around $12. It's a 3oz piece of bent metal, with one pressed in bolt, 2 washers and a nut. If it seems a little expensive that's because it is, but as usual "If ya wanna play, ya gotta pay". If you just want to mount a flag whip, I'd use a different method cause the Bandi costs more than twice what the 7' whip & flag did. I'm thinkin' maybe a 2" plumbing clamp with a little mod attached to the roof rack would do just fine, as long as you can tighten it enuff 'cause it takes a lot of stress in the wind.
I also like the adaption to the rear hitch that Jen had, but I'm not sure the 7' whip would wind up being 9' above ground level as the rules require.

I think mine may have been a couple of inches short of 9', but certainly not much more than that if at all. It was completely a last minute thing and I will hopefully be better prepared next time. I found a post from BDFJ here where he talks about his custom mount on his roof rack and I sent Mark an email about ordering one, but I haven't heard back from him. I really like that because a) you don't have to maneuver a 7' flag in the truck and b) no matter what, your flag WILL be more than 9' off the ground.
Terahex and I went down into the big bowl from the south side. It's a nice steep hill but we drove up the shallow east side to get out. That big hill where the truck is rolled is not really suitable for normal trucks. The whoops at the bottom are huge down there too. No way to get any speed up at all.
As far as the flag, I was the one in the picture with the flag cam-strapped to the rear tire. I was thinking it would be troublesome but It never slipped one bit.

It would be great if I had a clue, but let's face it, that's just not gonna happen.

I was thinking of just using a clamp to attach to the roof rack

Ok, quick question. How are these flag poles attached to the FJ's? Can someone post picks or direct me with links as to how it is done?
I plan on being there next time
I use a $1200 adapter to attach mine. An ARB bumper.
Future Mods: Chainlink steering wheel and dingle balls.
