Anyone around the area ever cut a wild Christmas tree? My wife and I usually go to tree farms but that's getting old. I know you can get a $5 permit to cut a wild tree that's under 12 feet, but now we need to know a good place to go. We are going up to Timberline Lodge for thanksgiving dinner this year and we were thinking about trying to find a place around Rhododendron or Government Camp to get into the woods to get a tree, head up to the lodge for dinner then home.
If anyone had any ideas or info please post. Who knows, this could turn into a yearly run. Get the FJs out on a trail run and get a tree. Sounds fun to me.
I've seen people with trees up top on Lolo Pass road on the way into Ramona Falls. North off Hwy 26 right across from Zig Zag Ranger Station. I wouldn't make it Thanksgiving day due to family obligations but free the rest of that weekend!
I have uncles that did the same thing when I was young. They used roll their own "cigarettes" too! I think they smoked some "cigarettes" and forgot to bring a saw but realized they had shotguns in the back of the truck. You should have seen the base of that tree!
Got it!
Found me a nice Charlie Brown tree! My buddy's Jack Russell helped me out by biting me every time I pulled the saw back. My wife and I had a blast and our friends enjoyed too!
Cool. We used to go out as a group many years ago to get one too for a few families. Fun times.
Are sure it was the dog biting you and not that wild tree?:wink>
