NEXT RUN: February 17, 2007
WHERE: Gifford Pinchot Forest Roads (north of Stevenson)
MEET: 8:30am - Be prepared to head out at 9am
WHERE: On the very west end of Stevenson on the south side of the road there is an abandoned gas station. (Red/White building) We will meet there. Also note there is a Texaco station directly across the street. Also note there is a Chevron station down a couple of blocks. GAS UP BEFORE YOU ARRIVE!
CB Channel: 4
FRS: 14/0

PERMITS REQUIRED: None. But, please note this is a SnoPark area. We do not plan on stopping at any of the SnoParks.

RUN PLAN: To run the forest service roads (labeled 4WD on the TOPO maps) north of Stevenson.

DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Unknown

I picked up the TOPO maps for the PDX area on disc. I was looking at the trail around Stevenson an Carson, including the powerline road we saw. I think we might be better off on these trails due to elivation and snow. There are alot of 4wd trails in the hills that look fun. Wish I would have gotten the disc before we did the pre run.Give me a call and maybe we could hook up during the week and go over some of the trails.

Yeah I agree. I was just looking at the DeLorme TOPO and it does list the roads. I gotta give Mary a little training...But, as we know GPS is pretty much useless. Where'd you get the disk? What's it called? I want to snag a copy too.

Got it at GI Joes. National Geographic Weekend Explorer 3D. They have them for each state also. I picked up the Portland Area disc it covers a good portion of Washington and Oregon.

Sounds like we're going to have a nice showing of FJ's out there. That's so cool. I can't wait. I'm brining all my usual off-road stuff except the Hi-lift jack...no room for it inside with the kids and I don't have anywhere else to put it yet. I also have a set of handheld radios.

We're going to hang out at Champoeg state park for 3 nights so our trip planning and packing frenzy is starting tonight.
