I'm not going to buy any more Fat Tire or New Belgium brewing products. Too many good replacements to even think twice about it. I am sending them an email stating the fact. Boycott is no good unless you tell them.

Re: Creating a national monument around Moab.
I wonder how long they'll stay buddy buddy with the bicyclists. I know before that groups have got them to go along with getting rid of motorized access only to later, after that was done, turn on them and work to get bicycles banned too.
yup....they are even turning on horses in some National Forests in California to which I had to chuckle and say 'how's that feel?' after years of them behind getting 4X4 atv & dirtbikes out of areas......

"Thanks for your note. In August 2012 New Belgium, along with 100 other companies, signed a letter in support of designating the Greater Canyonlands as a national monument. We did so because we believe the area greatly needs the protections that monument status will afford. The document clearly calls out the economic role that outdoor recreation plays in the area and asks for protections that will allow that industry to flourish. Our advocacy on this issue acknowledges that public access to these lands is dependent upon their federally designated status. We support sensible allocation of open space for all recreational enthusiasts including motorized vehicles. Our understanding is that monument status does not necessarily exclude motorized vehicles, as that would be negotiated in the management plan.
Thanks again for reaching out.

I wonder if he actually read "the document"? I'm going to boycott and spread the word.

"History says different. Once The Greater Canyonlands is designated a monument ORV traffic will be shut down. It will not be "managed" as you intend. Remember, we are talking government bureaucracy here.
I was once a member of the Sierra Club during the Mono Lake days. We had real issues then. Not some backpackers getting all bent out of shape because they got dust on them from a motorized.
I have no idea why your company took this stance but I am taking mine. Boycott.
PS: You are welcome to rebut my stance and I assure you that you will be treated with respect n the FJ forums if you choose to participate. I cant say the same for my ex-Sierra Club associates.
Something else to consider... What demographic spends more money on your product?"

They care about the hipsters, do their tour sometime and you'll see. Front parking space with a charging station for an electric car and bike racks for CSU students to ride up and get beer.

Re: Creating a national monument around Moab.
There is a thread on this over on Mud too. They have some info on other groups like REI who sponsor groups like the Sierra Club by giving them big donations.
I don't remember the name of the company, but several years we had a run in with one of the biker company owners. We had a small group of vehicles from the FMCA 4Wheeeling chapter that my friend was leading on some trails and I was his tail gunner. We were out running the Schaeffer Trail and had stopped to view Musselman Arch. We had talked to some bike riders that had just came in and were going to eat lunch and then head out towards the White Rim Trail. Nice people and they were talking with us and looking over the 4x4s. They mentioned that the lady who ran the tour company was going to meet them there for lunch. We had just mentioned that we were going to head out and eat lunch after the switchbacks at the rest area in the park at the top. A big Ford pulled in with racks on it and a lady, the tour owner, jumped out and started screaming at us that she was having lunch at this spot for here customers and that we needed to leave that we didn't belong there. Now we were on public land in a big dirt parking lot that still had plenty of space as we were in a double line off to one side and there only 4-5 other cars there along with several mountain bikes. My friend and a couple of the other guys tried to talk to her and she was just rude as could be. A couple of the bikers tried to talk to her and she wouldn't listen to them either. We decided to stay and eat just because of her attitude and some of the bikers asked if they could join us after they got their lunches. She hollered at the bikers and told them to go on down the trail another 5 miles so that they could find a place to eat. There were some pissed off bikers over that. They all rode by and shook hands and said goodbye. That's what some of these business owners are like. They don't care for people being in a 4x4 out there enjoying themselves and hurting no one. It's alright for her to be out there in a 4x4 to make money though.
We've also passed out bottles of water to bikers and hikers while on trails and helped a few with flats with our compressors or Powertanks. Most have been really friendly, but there were a few that were jerks too.
