So you're saying if they had integrity they would not allow homosexuals into the boy scouts?
I don't think thats at all what he is saying.

It sure seems as if the OP has a problem with homosexuals in the boy scouts...

Re: Boy Scouts - What in the world is wrong with them?

Either way, the decision doesn't effect me as I am no longer a boy scout and I don't have any children yet.
I'm just getting at the point that if there was no pressure put on them to change, then they would never change it.
Slavery would never have been abolished by the slave holders, it took "pressure" from outside sources. The same could be said about just about any major change or movement.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, its just time for a change in peoples perspectives on homosexuality.

Edit: Standing by principle is not more important than making positive change in the world IMO.

Seriously? Considering changing their life-long policy? Now, I love scouting. I’m an Eagle Scout. I have worked as a Scoutmaster. I currently work with the Cub Scouts. But they change their policy because of PRESSURE!?!?!

I wouldn’t have a problem if they came out and said “we are changing our policy because we feel this is the right thing to do”. Nope, they are changing it because of pressure. How spineless and weak.

So this is the example they set for our kids. Stand strong, unless the pressure is just too much to handle.
Not sure where you get that from the words quoted above. Seems to me he has a problem with the Scouts caving to pressure.....not a change in heart over the issue.

All our principles probably vary just like our opinions.

Who's principles are right?

The scouts caved from good old fashion American capitalism.
They were losing funding big time.
Money talks .. right?

Corporations and private foundations were witholding funding big time and yes I guess that's bullying. Just like Susan Komen Foundation caved in after they said that they wouldn't give money to Planned Parenthood.
If one is dependant on funding from the masses (Left, Right and the middle), then it's prolly not a good business decision to lean toward one side.

I don't understand how this issue can even be possible, I thought it was illegal for a potential employer to ask someone about their sexual preference. Are they just not hiring gays who are total flamers? That I could understand..

Re: Boy Scouts - What in the world is wrong with them?

I really think we should do away with clubs all together. Unless it's a club where ANYONE (regardless of gender, race, weight, creed, motto, religious affiliation, political beliefs or lack thereof, eating habits, height, nationality, hair color, weight, athletic abilities, # of peircings, tattoos, finger length, eye shape, disabilities, shoe size, sexual orientation, # of nipples and/or addictions) can join. Then we can all get together and pat each other on the back (which will probably be banned because some people might find mutual touching offensive) telling each other how good and nice we all are. You'll even get a badge just for showing up (which will be optional because you can't discriminate against someone who has time constraints).
