Yesterday I started a thread in the off topic area called "coincidence I think not", shortly after it was locked out with a simple reply of "dude, find a political forum". I asked 4 moderators to please explain on what grounds the thread was terminated since I know I broke no rules at all, in fact rule #3 on the rules thread FORUM RULES - Please Read clearly states my right to post such threads, "The Off-Topic and Super Off-Topic sections have been created so that people who want to see those items can, and people who DO NOT want to see them can avoid them. Out of the 4 mods I messaged only one gave a response, my mail is as follows,
"Mods, I started a thread today in the off topic area titled "coincidence I think not" which was unfairly locked out. I did nothing against the rules, the moderator who locked it out is clearly abusing his power simply because he disagrees with the thread. I am a lifetime member and i try my best to play by the rules, this moderator has guidelines to follow also and I would like to know what exactly his justification is for killing my thread. I do not think he has any other than a difference in opinion".
The reply is as follows, "We have been removing political threads because of how toxic they become. It requires us to babysit the thread and deal with many reported posts
Sorry, it isn't an abuse of power, it's a common sense approach to keeping the peace"
Note the excuse for killing my thread was so they would not have to "babysit" and that it's a "common sense approach" , yet common sense would tell us if political threads are not allowed just say so, don't pick and choose yet that is exactly what happened, same with the baby sitting, they have no problem baby sitting big booty threads and funny pics but political commentary contrary to their belief is out of the question. The very nature of moderating is about difference in opinion, to these guys its about big booty and funny pics. Supposedly they have been removing political threads but I have yet to see which threads they are talking about.
I have engaged several people in different threads over a difference of opinion over the time and we always resolved it in a mature manner without the "help" of mods. My post received 2 comments and it was killed, recently i participated in a thread Pentagon to lift ban on woman in combat.. that got out of hand on the second page and continued another 3 pages until it was finally locked out, again, my thread had 2 comments and it was terminated.
What is the point of stating in the Guns and Firearms section that "Political commentary will not be tolerated in this area" if there is actually no place at all where it is tolerated? What is the point of rules such as #3 if mods are allowed to step all over them?
I should never have become a lifetime member, I thought the rules applied to all here equally but I have been proven wrong, moderation on this site is clearly bias.
As for the dude that wants me to find a political forum I would like to remind you that this forum is for FJC owners, i have one how about you? O yeah SOLD IT so you find yourself a forum for non FJC owners. This forum has an off topic area for a reason and like rule 3 states if you can't handle it don't read it.
Re: What's the point of guideliness, rules and mods?
I'm 100% with you, it seems that if a mod disagrees with you. Down goes your thread. I Find it ridiculous that your last thread was closed. No one was rude, or getting "toxic".
Re: What's the point of guideliness, rules and mods?
100% agree...a thread should be given a chance and if it goes out control or becomes toxic, then it should be closed...If a mod doesn't want to mod, then maybe they should step down and let someone who is willing to take the time to mod do the job right.
I recently posted in a "plastic dip" thread under general, which is 1st in the wrong section and 2nd should have been closed a long time ago...
Re: What's the point of guideliness, rules and mods?
I too agree. I was fascinated by the quote you posted. In this day and age of so called tolerance, it seems that tolerance is very selective. I would be interested to find a link to the original quote that you posted.

I agree.
1. Forum Mods SHOULD NOT abuse power by deleting/locking threads they personally disagree with.
2. If forum mods don't want to "baby sit" political threads then:
- give us a "political/religious" sub category in "off topic"
- relinquish YOUR JOB as a moderator and give it to someone who will do it
3. I think it's lazy on behalf of the Mods who did not respond to your PM. Is being a mod voluntary or a paid gig?
4. Great point on the Mods "not having a problem babysitting the 'Big Booty' thread"... proves again that the mods are simply choosing what to keep open soley based on their own wants

Hopefully I don't get banned for my support of the OP

I just wrote this same concept last night somewhere else. I'm SICK of me having to be tolerant of the silly libs, and them not recipocating the tolerance in ANY way to me

Re: What's the point of guideliness, rules and mods?
I'm with you as well. It was offensive in the way that this was handled. A former FJC owner with mod powers, one who rarely comes around, stops by, reads it and uses that power for what I believe to be his disagreement with the post. He then closes the thread and tells the OP to go elsewhere. Well it was elsewhere, it was in the OFF TOPIC arena. That's what it is for! There was only two posts in between so to say it had to be babysat and dealt with in a common sense approach manner is just nonsense IMHO and the mod who wrote that should be ashamed of himself. You lost our respect with that one.
Even I asked for an explanation and have yet to receive one. I do understand that this is a privately owned forum and its here to make money. But the rules were set and this did NOT violate such. Tenn. Squires mod powers should have been removed once he sold his FJC and moved on. The my way or the highway approach was a childish abuse of privilege.
I suggest looking up the very definition of moderate vs being Judge, Jury and in this case, Executioner. This reminded me of a Lib screaming Racist when they don't like what they hear, even when it was not racist in any way, shape or form. Well let me tell you this, the race card is maxed out and well overdrawn.
