Very powerful and very Big Brother. Shows you just how little you can get away with. I'm sure it won't make into the US, ACLU will say it somehow infringes on citizens rights.

Re: welcome to my town

Damn, I'm impressed. I'd rather have the police looking for stuff like this than waisting hours parked issuing speeding tickets, this system goes after the "criminals" vs the "traffic violators"

Re: welcome to my town

Very interesting. Not too scary for law abiding individuals but seems like a lot of cost per cruiser for its limited usefulness. Additionally, it would probably require another national database.

Interesting, but agree with NECruiser that it is a little too "Big Brother" for my taste.

Re: welcome to my town

We have that system in California...it does not require a new database. It is deployed regularly and works very well.

In addition, ruebarb, you would be surprised on how many criminals are caught during "routine" traffic violation stops.

Um. No. No they won't. It's perfectly legal, and it infringes on no one's rights.

The ACLU doesn't see it as a problem:
Sometimes it amazes me how little people understand what the ACLU actually is in favor of and what they're actually against.
