Re: potential move: Idaho or Cali

Do you own a house at your current assignment? If so you could pay cash for a house at Mountain Home, No way in Cali and with the slow down in the housing market you could lose money by buying there.

Moab is only a days drive from Mountain Home!

Re: potential move: Idaho or Cali

Been to Sacramento a few times, my brother lives there. My impressions is that it was a lot nicer 100 years ago (no offense to anyone who loves Sacramento). But you can probably say that about any place where urban sprawl is taking over, including where I live now.

Never been to Idaho, but that would be my choice anyway.

Looking at a couple possible assignments this summer: Beale AFB (north of Sacramento) and Mountain Home AFB, Idaho.

Which place would my FJ like better? I'm kind of liking the Mountain Home scenario. Even though I'm a PA guy, I gotta get out of the DC/Baltimore area.
Funny, when I read the title to this thread my first thought was Mountain Home, Idaho.

I know some RX7 guys from there and they swear its the best kept secret in the USA. Great place to raise a family and great place to live as far as quality of life goes.

You know my vote. (based of course on these guys raving about how awesome it is there.)
