I think something missed here is the fact that the moron driving it could have harmed a pregnant woman and her child. Had that been my wife/child that they hit, they would be in more trouble from me than they would be from the owner of the Bugatti.

Exactly, the car, no matter what it is can be repaired or replaced-the life of a woman and her unborn child can't. Thank God she and her baby were OK.
The guy driving it was paying 20K (pounds or about $35K) per day!!!!
