What flat top is that? I did time on the Midway, Forrestfire, & Linc (that one was by far the best out of all 3) practicing ship board ops with Navy SF. My pic is in front of Jolly 79 (since you're a csar guy you know the lineage). K

Re: Military Veterans Report

Infantry grunt Viet Nam 69-70

Thanks to all for the kind words for veterans. Certainly much better than the people who got up at 3am to boo and swear at me when I returned home. I wonder if people understand how difficult they make if for our soldiers. I suspect the same influence is happening today causing our enemies to redouble their efforts. Yet, those that do it, don't seem to have a clue. To me, its almost treasonous. Sorry, for dragging this thread down.

Re: Military Veterans Report

USAF 4 years active duty (88-92) as a "Moral, Welfare and Recreational" Specialist (Cook). Also trained in "Mortuary Affairs".
Biggest deployment for me was down to Cuba for 6 months with the Joint Task Force rounding up Haitian refugees, it gave me perspective on the rest of the services and I tip my hat to the the other three branches, especially the Marines who helped us in all the crap jobs (literally, sometimes). The funniest thing was, I would still make some of you tough guys cry when they were on KP and I cut up a 50lb bag of onions.

4 Years, never at a base with an active Flightline...kinda like being in the Navy and never stepping foot on a Boat or Ship...

What AF base were you at that had no strip? I did some time in Brindisi Air Station, Italy (elephant cage near the IAF base we flew out of) in the early 90's supporting the Balkans conflict but, did not know of too many non flying AF installations. Curious. K
