USAF here, 4 years now and recently signed up for 5 more! I feel the pain of that other guy, not only have I never been on a base with a flight line, I've never been on a AF plane!!! I guess that's what I signed up for, and I can't complain, I'm in beautful sunny (haha) Monterey, CA for the second time. I'm a russian linguist, the wifey is a chinese linguist. We both have too long of a lineage to mention, but I'm proud to follow in there footsteps. Hey kiskat i'll have to stop at that cold stone in Destin, we will be there next month, my wife's family lives there her father stationed at Eglin. Cheers Chief I just came from the Fort although I didn't have my FJ till I got here in October, I couldn't turn down the tax free buy in Oregon. This is my first post and I'm sure many more will follow. Thanks to everyone who had laid the groundwork for the military that I am a part of today.
Thanks to all for the kind words for veterans. Certainly much better than the people who got up at 3am to boo and swear at me when I returned home. I wonder if people understand how difficult they make if for our soldiers. I suspect the same influence is happening today causing our enemies to redouble their efforts. Yet, those that do it, don't seem to have a clue. To me, its almost treasonous. Sorry, for dragging this thread down.
Welcome home bud...

Presidio?(I think, what a stunning location for a base) nice! Bases with lines are overated compared to where youre living. I was in Monterey (hope pay has gone up so you can buy a place out there) a couple years ago on bizness & looking at the great white at the aquarium. I have traveled alot around the world and that has too be one of the most amazing places in the continental US (between there & Tahoe I don't know which I'd choose). FJ's are great but, living there would be a need for a Porsche at a minimum. Destin area is my old stompin grounds (1st 6 @ Hurby), and the Cold Stone there is beautiful and in a great location. Have fun on you vacation and thanx for you & your better half's service.
There is a place on the right hand side of the pier with the best calimari steaks on the planet, if you are into bait you should check it out! K

22 years and retired from the Army (DAV). Uncle Sam is not paying for your sunfusion. You earned it and all of our respect!

True, my wife keeps telling me that too. I like to think that I'm just getting even and they owe me. I know, poor attitude. Must be Agent Orange or too much dinky dow:
Good for you...hope joint spouse isn't too much of a drain on your family life to keep you Blue. Hard to keep you guys when you can make so much more money as a contractor/civ.
Your probably lucky to be at Monterey right now as we're working hard to place RULINGs.
Thanks for serving

USAF here. I did 4 years as a Combat Firefighter at Holloman AFB, NM, home of the F-117 Stealth Fighter.
I have my share of great memories, from IFE's (In Flight Emergencies) to "vacations" in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. I'm more proud of my service than I am of just about anything I've done, including college and law school.
