thinking ....justtt thinking about making the leap from t-mobile to verizon. I'll get verizon for almost half as much through work as I am paying for t-mobile.. BUT that being said, t-mobile has the best customer service I've ever had and GREAT reception,,,,so how is Verizon service, coverage, and customer service?
ALL opinions iwll help because I'm going to have to pay 200.00 to break my t-mobile contract...but may be worth it in long run to saving on verizon bill....so please respond..thank ya
I find Verizon to be decent. I have had some really good cust. service and really bad cust. service from them over the last 7 years, but it is normally OK. What is more important is that the coverage really does seem to be better. Plenty of times I've been where I was the only one getting reception.
If you are going to get a PDA phone, AVOID the Verizon branded (Audiovox) P.O.S. I broke 7. The moto Q is much sturdier and I dig it.
Verizon has great coverage throughout the U.S., probably better than T-Mobile. Verizon uses (CDMA) a different technology than T-Mobile (GSM). T-Mobile will give you better coverage worldwide (GSM is popular almost everywhere). Verizon has less phones to choose from compared to T-Mobile.
Check Verizon phones first to see that they have what you like. If they do, and you don't do much world traveling, then you should be happy switching to Verizon (especially with a discount, because Verizon is pricier). Sound quality Verizon offers is excellent.

ive had a tmobile MDA...but Im looking to get something simple again...that I can figure out how to use the dam phone part...I was looking at the enV or may wait for the tv phones..but then again do I really need that?
Im just trying to justify breaking with fabulous t-mobile service and customer service to save about 40.00 a month
One reason verison sucks, is they reprogram phones so you must buy ringtones and games from them. I can plug my Cingular phone into my computer or the memory card and just drag and drop anything I want to be a ringtone.

Some of the phones they are finally opening up. Check out Howards Forums and Phonescoop for more info on any particular phone you're interested in. VZW coverage is tons better than Cingular coverage in my area. I don't have any experience with Tmobile. VZW is currently having a 30 day trial right now, so try it out before cancelling Tmobile and then if you like it, port your number over and cancel the Tmobile.

I heard about that...but wasn't sure if I had to cancel t-mobile first...wow I will DEFINATELY take the free trial period
ANyone heard anything about the EnV phone?
Verizon does nefarious things like lock out file transfer via Bluetooth
so that the only way that you can get, say, a photo out of your
phone is by using their (pricey) messaging service.
I've also heard that they refuse to activate any phone they didn't sell.
You can 'hack' your phone to unlock features like file transfer, but
that's ridiculous.
On the other hand, with Cingular and other GSM carriers, you can just
buy an unlocked phone on EBay, then proceed with a contract-less
service with the carrier of your choice. That's right, no commitment
at all, in most cases. Having the ability to ratchet your plan up and
down as your needs change will pay for the phone. Get aggravated
with the carrier? Go to the next one.
Verizon does have good coverage on its proprietary CDMA network--- but
as someone else mentioned, it is incompatible with 100% of the rest
of the world. So you're totally dependent upon them. And... the phones
are incompatible with any other carrier.
Of all the companies, they most resemble the 'Bell' company of the 60's...

Your best bet is people in your area instead of here. Coverage and customer service can vary greatly city to city. The GSM/CDMA argument can go forever but that isn't really a big deal until it comes down to a few features that can differentiate the two. Alot of coverage depends on maturity of the market and frequency that is used as well.
That said I like GSM options and features, so that would lead me to pick T-mob but I just don't like Verizon due to some local experiences here and being in the industry.
