Is CLEARWIRE Broadband Internet as bad as all of the reviews say its?
I just moved out of my cable company's service area and I don't know what to do. I have ALWAYS had high speed cable internet and I don't like the idea of having to deal with Qwest for DSL so my only other viable option is CLEARWIRE Broadband Internet Service. Has anyone had any experience with this service? Supposedly you can go mobile with it as well, not much use with my current desktop, but someday I may get another laptop.
I am very interested if anyone has good, bad or ugly about this service. I am going to make up my mind in the next couple hours.
Thanks in advance for your input!

Re: Anyone have CLEARWIRE Broadband Internet Service?
We have had it for a year now and love it ... our house is 10yrs old and has no phone line running though it so it was our only option.... no problems with the service just wish it cost less

Re: Anyone have CLEARWIRE Broadband Internet Service?
Wireless broadband won't normally be as fast or as dependable as DSL/cable internet.
I have a Motorola receiver (looks like the sensor for a automatic floodlight) on the television antenna and it receives a signal from the local provider's antenna which is located on a nearbye cell phone tower.
Wireless is still way better than dial-up and all that stress associated with it.

Well you can always go with satellite service; that's all we can get where I live. Much faster than dial-up but not as good as DSL. Craps out if it rains really heavy, but it's better than dial-up.

You could also check out EVDO but it depends on who has coverage in your area.
I dumped my crappy DSL for my Sprint EVDO and I don't look back. One of the nice things about EVDO is that you can take it with you and it works in a lot of places. I've taking mine all over the place and had a connection. I got tired of paying for DSL at home and then paying for a hot spot account when I was traveling.

I installed it at my folks house in Central Oregon. Works pretty great considering they are 2 miles farther than it's supposed to work. No configuration, just plug it in and go- I connected up a wireless router to it, put the thing up high on a window shelf where you can't see it, just a power cord running up there, 2 1/2 years later haven't touched it. They're paying $30 a month... month-to-month actually quite a deal... seems to me!
Good Luck!

Re: Anyone have CLEARWIRE Broadband Internet Service?
Thank you to all who gave input. It is nice to hear some positive feedback. All I read online were reviews that trashed the Clearwire service so I was worried, but I have had the service for 3 days now and I have had ZERO complaints. It was easy to install, gets great reception at my home and is at least as fast as what we had at our old house (Cable One).
I will let you know if I experience any negatives with the service, but for now they get a glowing report.
Thanks again....
