$2,100 towing bill.

I read in today's paper about a guy who had a motor mount break on his 1993 Jeep Wrangler and left it on Richmond Ridge on the backside of Aspen Mountain (CO). The next day, a towing company (whom he apparently did not call) called him up (he lives about 45 miles away) and said they have his Jeep and to be prepared to pay $2,100 to get it back. He's a little pissed as you can imagine. I'v never been on that road so I don't know how it is but.....OUCH!!!

Re: $2,100 towing bill.

Apparently it was a 4wd road with a creek crossing. Like I said, I've never been on that road so I don't know how bad it was. Surprized they towed it since he did not call them. Maybe it's a Forest Sercvie road and the F.S. called the tow company.

I'd tell them to put it back where they got it from!

Re: $2,100 towing bill.

I would rather walk the 45 miles with a 5 gallon jerry can and a pack of matches, set the thing on fire in their yard than pay $2,100.

Sounds like he got off cheap. See this thread about the H2 I was wheeling with when his steering gear shaft broke (over $5,000)....of course the owner actually called a towing company on this one.
