if you name your car, you're a freak. you're the same kind of person who dresses up your pets as humans and thinks that their mentation is on par with our own.
you assign a sense of reverence, anthropomorphism, and idealism to what is a tool, and a mass produced one at that.
for what reason?
that it makes it your own?
you buy, sell, wreck, use and abuse cars.
they have no feelings. they have no human traits (except those imbued into them by peculiar designers) they don't feel pain or pleasure, they don't appreciate or hate you. they don't care if you're a good person or a bad one.
they're complex assemblies of mechanical and computer technology, composed of thousands of non-living parts--all of which are but a consumer product designed to fill a need, not offer companionship.
don't give your cars names.
they don't care how you treat them. anything you do for them will only be refleced in whether you can get a return of your purchase price in the form of performance over a span of years.
...
and if you EVER approach me, and introduce your car BY NAME, i'm going to drive you to the nearest psychiatric hospital.
freaks.

well much of your description could be used to describe the human body as well. Yes I named my rig. If you think I'm a freak that's cool and I am very happy for you. But when you say a car doesn't hate or love you...you haven't owned some of the same cars I have. hahaha
The FJ is the first car i have ever named! But to me most everyone is weird in some way or another, there are no persons who are totally normal. It is all just ones perception of someone else, and if you are too normal then you are also weird! lol!! personally i don't know you,so you can think what you want. it really bears no influence on me one way or the other.
well here is another freak. I have named my truck because it's personal to me. I do have an intimate relationship with it. I take care of her and she takes care of me. I treat her with respect and she will take me anywhere I want to go. As all the other Marines out there can relate...."this is my rifle, there are many like it but this one is mine....."
