Re: My Body Clock is off! I can't sleep. Any Recommendations?

For my trips to Australia and Asia, I used Unisom (OTC sleeping aid) to change my body clock. Used it for a few days there and few days when back in the US. I had to be instantly well-rested, ready, and alert during the days for fun there and for work here. No time to wait for natural change. So, Unisom helped me to get a good night sleep.

Re: My Body Clock is off! I can't sleep. Any Recommendations?

I like Unisome, that with a Benedryl and some CNN or History Channel help me a lot.

Also, dont laugh, Pamprin/Midol, the ones without caffeine, are really great. I had been taking it for years to put me to sleep when I saw a piece on 60 min/20/20?? that the truck drivers were taking it to come down after a run.

For all of the above, take one hour before you want to sleep. Take, get comfy, chill, and wait for sleepies.

Good luck!

CheFJ has it... I fly from the US to Asia on a fairly regular basis and forcing yourself to stay up from early to late with excercise is extremely effective if you repeat for a few days in a row. Also keep meal times constant.
I travel too and agree with the above. I also "quiet my mind" with meditation. I know it might sound corny, but concentrate on not concentrating and it will help the sleep to come (when taken in conjunction with the advice above).

Re: My Body Clock is off! I can't sleep. Any Recommendations?

Benadryl (diphenhydramine HCL) will leave most ppl with a hangover the next morning. If you can get your hands on some prescription sleep aids like Ambien or Lunesta, they work well. If not, here are some suggestions. Some of these have been mentioned, but worth repeating.

-No caffiene, TV, or Internet before bedtime
-Take some calcium pills or warm milk (w/ cookies)
-No naps during the day or skip a night's sleep
-Work out during the day. That should help burn some excess energy
-Sex or self gratification
-meditation or soft music works well too.
-sometimes I'll eat before bedtime, but this isn't reccommended by some.
-a little alcohol may help as well.
-cough syrup I think has a little codiene in it that should help as well.
-Melatonin and chamomile tea work for some but may not be strong enough for you.

good luck.

Wow! Thank you all for the advise. I'm definitely due for a caffeine detox. I'm up to five shots of espresso a day!

I'll tell you a "sure fire way to get to sleep"! Sex it up really good, then just ask your G/F or wife to tell you about her day. I tell ya for me I'm cold out with in 3-4 min.
