Re: FJ Drivers - WAVE DAMN IT!
I gave up waving in the city a long time ago. Everybody is on their cell phone, and could care less. Now, up in Tahoe was another matter. Anyone in a 4x4 waved (on the backroads/trails, not on city streets). There is ONE guy around town and we always frantically wave at each other. He drives the best restored FJ I think I have ever seen (haven't seen THAT many) -- it is newly painted voodoo blue, in Castro Valley. Is he on this board?? Another guy, same town, modded Ti with a surfboard usually out the back, spare on the roof.

I continue to persevere with little response from the other FJs. 8,000km trip through the SW - 50+ FJs - 1 wave.
Five months - 18,000kms limited courtesy from the FJ folks in Calgary....
my husband is into the european car "scene" and it's all about the sleek, low, fast, blah, blah, blah (I used to be in the same "scene" until the FJ) and even though he okayed my FJ purchase, he has taught my 3 1/2 year old daughter "the FJ sign" - a finger and a thumb in the shape of an L on her forehead.
I keep telling her that is not a nice thing to do, and luckily she's in the back seat, in the middle, and all of my windows are up and tinted . . . she's good for spotting an FJ before me, but then she throws up her little toddler gang sign.
As for the wave, I have grown weary of trying to make eye contact to show some FJ love with a wave as most people driving FJs around here are too busy on their celery phones to notice . . . meh, I am just happy to be in MINE!! I have had it for two and a half years now, 20K+ miles and it still makes me SMILE.

All right....so I drove a Jeep Wrangler for about 10 years and let me tell you, about 90% of other Wrangler drivers were great about giving the good ole wave acknowledgement...you know, yup, great purchase, good taste, you rock....
What's up with FJ drivers?? I've had my FJ for all of about 2.5 weeks now, and of all the FJs I've seen (which have been quite a lot around here), I've had ONE wave...geesh, too much effort to lift the hand and show some love?
Anyone else getting the shaft on the road from fellow FJers??

Yup.....less than 5 minutes ago......I just flashed the highs and did the wave with NO response back.....LOOSER!!!

I gave up long ago as well.....EXCEPT for drivers of modded FJ's. They are the only ones who wave back or even initiate a wave.
No lift, no tires, wheels or bumpers = no wave whatsoever.
Its true and it works.
Your average soccer mom could care less, shes getting the kids and then picking up the dry cleaning. A guy or gal with mods cares about his rig and his bretheren and is also more likely to be a part of this online community.
