Now don't get me wrong, I respect pedestrians but there's way too many pedestrians around these parts who won't even pay attention when crossing the street because they're too busy talking on the phone, listening to their iPods and some are too busy texting while crossing the street!
Whatever happened to look both ways before crossing the street?
I hate it when people cross the street like they own it, "hurry the F up kid, I'm trying to get to work!" Crossing guards piss me off as well. We have some school zones on major roads, which is also stupid, and instead of letting traffic flow a bit, they spring into action and stop traffic for every effing kid that shows up. What the hell has that little punk got to do that is so important, that he can wait at the crosswalk for a focking minute? Done.

Ever been on a boat in a busy waterway? Everyone is courteous, waves, smiles (sometimes they flash their naughty bits) but in a way the automobile creates a barrier between people that, like forums, gives a kind of anonymity so, regretfully , many act like asshats.
Why the hurry against pedestrians and crossing guards? You are the one sitting on your ass doing nothing...take it easy, change the radio station, play with your willy or just re-fukcing-lax...you can easily catch up to the idiot driving in front of you and tail gate them with your brights on just like you were before the crosswalk...
Eventually we all become pedestrians...
Once we exit our vehicles , we are them.
Yeah but this is one pedestrian who looks both ways and crosses the street fast. I lived in Mexico for several years, there's none of this "I own the street" mentality there, if you get run over, you get run over and there's no lawsuit to make you feel better while you're lying on the hospital bed.

Five minutes might not matter to you on your way to work, but if you were the one on the table waiting for me to show up, it would be an eternity. You sound like one of those yahoos who go out of their way to slow others down. Maybe that guy your having so much fun pissing off is on their way to something truly important, like helping to save some body's life; possibly even somebody you care about.

So you're saying that speeding and driving recklessly is justified for some and not others?
What an egotistical, arrogant, selfish point of view.
If you really, really, really, really that dedicated, and thought that it was that important to get to the OR, you would have an apartment in the hospital.
If you get that worked up behind the wheel, maybe I don't want you wielding a scalpel over my body...
If it was a me on the table and my children in the cross walk, I would rather have you wait 5 minutes, even if it is an eternity rather than have you mow them down.
The only problem around here that we really have a problem with...and I'm not being racist so don't say that I am, but at night, black people go to clubs, and they wear black clothes as well...they totally blend into darkness so it's hard as hell to see them, and they LOVE to just run across the road without looking >.> I do agree with the schools though, instead of letting ONE kid go at a time, which creates some serious traffic, they should wait for a group of kids, and then let them travel together. The traffic directors at schools are normally teachers from what I've seen, and they don't have a clue what they are doing, I've seen them wave people to come on and then they look behind them and a kid is in the middle of the road NOT done crossing it...stupid, stupid people. I will admit that I am normally about five miles over the speed limit, maybe ten, but in Atlanta, EVERYONE is, you'll be saying "Oh crap I'm going way to fast" and let off the gas, then someone going THIRTY over will floor it past you just barely missing you...and people wonder why we have so many wrecks.

In San Francisco and the Bay Area the ped's are aggressive! They act like they have a force-field protecting them, just jump out from behind trees and signs into crosswalks! And the cops (Berkeley and SF are the worst), they set up stings! Step a foot into the crosswalk and if you do not come to a screeching halt, you're ticketed.
AND... everyone in the Bay Area wears black. It's chilly all summer, black hoodies are all the rage. Dark jeans, dark coats/hoodies, dark shoes ~ it's like they're trying get hit.
AND... ever see those Drivers Ed videos, the ones with pedestrians, women with baby carriages, skate boarders, bikes, a kid with the small dog, the old couple, etc all coming at you at once?? That's what it's like here, all the time. It's like one, long drivers ed test.
We loose several peds a year who just walk in front of muni buses while on cell phones! Most are tourist who just aren't being careful.
I know I'm being careful... they should wake up, too!

Ummm actually they do own the road. It's called the right of way, and they have it.
